How red is your neck and how full of beer is your belly? I feel like a Z06 convertible should be in your future. 7 speed manual of course.

If I only get one vote though

Read my mind with the slk 55 amg!
After seeing the SLK suggestion. Might as well throw in an older RS4 Convertible. Possibly M4 Hardtop also.
My only advice is to go with the car that will put a smile on your face. That’s what I would do.
Now real question is which of these are hack able lol
Interesting question. I am looking for something similar as well and the pickings are pretty slim. I am not opposed to an automatic and am open to keeping it longer than the summer, and still having trouble. Convertible is pretty much a must.
Front runners right now are G83 M4 or 991.2 Cab so I can at least attempt to get a kid in the back if needed. The Z4 looks great as well, but I have the same concerns about depreciation and I would really want a manual in one of those.
Given that it’s only going to be held for a few months the sales tax in your state might overwhelm any depreciation. That being said I would definitely look into both a Lexus LC500 or Jaguar F-Type (V8) which would be pretty neutral depreciation wise and definitely can be had < 85k.
Does the LC500 come in manual? I thought they were all autos. Jag would definitely fit…
Agreed, in the same boat here. Manual is definitely my first choice and I don’t want to lose my butt when I go to sell either lol. I’m struggling to think of something that isn’t too old, something I haven’t owned before, something with somewhat of a rear seat, and I don’t want it to be too expensive. The sales tax alone (on a shorter term ownership) will about kill the attractiveness to me… might as well go lease something. A mustang fits the bill OK, other than I don’t think I want to own a mUsTanG. Supra and Z immediately come to mind, but no rear seat.
btw you better not have sold the spyder
It’s auto only. If you haven’t seen it Savagegeese did a very thorough video on the car and had nothing but praises of both the car but the gearbox in particular. Ref:
One other suggestion for the OP is a shorter term Porsche Drive subscription for three months. It’s not available in every market, not cheap, but does get around the whole sales tax issue.
