F-150 Lightning... Reservation & Ordering Discussion

Rumored Lightning program changes for January. XLT payments up, around $60 or more, compared to Dec programs. Seems like the end of sub $300 Lightnings.

Still don’t understand the flash trim

Bigger battery means more range, and you get a big screen. I personally like the screen in the XLT trim. I enjoy my buttons.

But the XLT had a standard and extended range configuration already… what was the point of cannibalizing and making this odd in-between trim? What do I know about how to run a billion dollar car business?

There is no more “SR” and “ER” designations starting with 2024 model year

2024 XLT = 2023 XLT SR
2024 Flash = 2023 XLT ER w/ some Lariat upgrades
2024 Lariat = 2023 Lariat ER

XLT ER and Lariat SR both discontinued.

The trim options are simpler now. This has helped with secondary market pricing, which has historically failed to differentiate values for SR vs ER. I suspect this also makes it easier to predict residual values.

Screen grab was from their current 2024 webpage. I don’t even think they know what their lineup is either.

That winter Lightning life…

I’m trying to catch up on things with the Lightning. What’s the deal with charging at superchargers? That certainly opens up more options.

My RAM is now 13 years old and it’s a regular cab. The lease on my wife’s Santa Fe is ending later this year. We’re moving to a new state that has at least some charging infrastructure (EVs are scarce here now in Louisiana), our new house has a dedicated 60A circuit for a charger, and we both work from home. She wants an Ioniq or something similar, so I’m thinking about getting a new 4 door truck as our main family vehicle. I like the idea of the Lightning if I can get anywhere near some of the prices I’ve seen here, but I’m concerned about no longer having an ICE vehicle. We don’t take a lot of long trips, but we may want/need to occasionally with family spread out. The last EV I owned was a first gen Ioniq and I still haven’t recovered from the range anxiety. lol

A lightning lease with ram conquest should be a really good deal. Check Signed Deals & Tips and Marketplace

Try out the all-EV lifestyle for a while. See if Tesla superchargers work for you on roadtrips. Or rent an ICEV if the trips are longer but infrequent. Or buy a used ICEV that doesn’t cost much on either depreciation and maintenance as solely a roadtrip car in addition to two EV dailies.

I’ve tried all three strategies over the last 3+ years. A monthly payment on a generic ICEV for a daily would be a distant fourth preference IMO.

Renting is a really good suggestion and something I thought about as a backup plan. I’ve done it a few times over the past few years because the mileage is getting up there on our current lease. I get decent corporate discounts from a few vendors, so there’s been times a rental has been cheaper than going over mileage on the lease. We’ll also be very close to an airport now that usually has good last minute inventory. My MIL also insists on keeping her 2003 Vue around so that will be in the driveway, but definitely a last, last resort for me. lol

I need to see if the Ford corporate discount will help at all with a Lightning. I just found out that my company is signed on with them and Audi.

PSA- Ford is sending out private offers of $2500 good on all F150s including Lightning and Super Duty plus Expedition. On an XLT, this could make up for some of the missing rebates this month. This usually does not stack with conquest (one or the other).

Been reading on the forum a lot about Lightnings and found this thread. Very interested in leasing a 2025 XLT with the current incentives. I have a $2k private offer good until 07/07/2025.

Searching Visor.vin with premium account is very helpful to find a PP 9.6kw XLT. But every dealer website shows the cash or finance price. Hard to know what dealers are wanting for price before incentives for leasing.

Any tips for narrowing down dealers to contact?

Broker here is getting 12% off MSRP before incentives. I would like to get close to that but on my own it’s tough. I am a reader/researcher first and negotiator second. Struggling to bridge that gap. Any tips or insight is appreciated.

I just do the shotgun approach by starting with the closest dealer and moving out on radius :). If they decline, i just say thanks and move on.
Sometimes i ask their best, that way if i find something far away, i consider shipping cost and see if im truly saving or not.
Great idea of using the marketplace as a guidance.
I always also add that i can sign the deal today if they agree/e-sign if possible.
Make sure to look at insurance cost first as well

Ps. Iowa resident as well!

Employee pricing will get you 7% off MSRP.

What is your target?

Why not just use the broker? If I can get a private offer that’s what I’m intending to do!

$1100 to ship from broker to me.

Any insight if the leasing incentives will be better, same, or worse tomorrow 07/08/25 after employee pricing ends?

Don’t waste your time trying to negotiate with dealers. Broker fee is worth your time and aggravation. I tried to get these dealers to come close and always was met with surprised pikachoo face when present with my offer ready to be signed. I didn’t even get as aggressive as brokers are with their numbers. But none of these dealers wanted to bite so I paid broker fee and got a deal way better than I could. They still trying to get me to come in weeks later after being told repeatedly that I have new truck.

Browsing the Ford website this morning, 07/08/25, the new incentive period through 09/30/2025, Ford has increased the Red Carpet Lease Cash $2,000 for each trim.

2025 XLT is now $12,250

2025 Flash is now $8,500

2025 Lariat is now $9000

Tesla conquest is back also.
