It was through Nissan Not sure if you can do another one though.
@discobot And this is uncool
The dealer has very little to do with the lease return process other than grounding it for Nissan Finance at lease end.
If the original repair was not up to snuff, you should contact the body shop. Most places guarantee their work for an extended period of time. Take it back to them and make them fix it - you should not pay for that. If they put up a fight and you went through insurance, then notify your insurance company as usually the insurance company will make it right.
Post a copy of the inspection
Yes, went through the other guy’s insurance as it was not my fault. The car was rear ended - three car collision and mine was at the front with a Porsche in between. I was thinking of talking to Sales Manager at the dealership.
I have been told by NMAC that they are ‘third-party loaners’ so they would not be negotiating the buy price and asked me to go to the dealer to discuss any payment arrangements.
Thank you for replying and thoughts around this!
Doesn’t matter whose fault it was or whose insurance paid; You should contact the body shop directly.
What I’m hearing is that Nissan does not negotiate lease end values, which is fairly common. The dealer may be able to buy it at a discounted rate from the bank and then sell it to you with a markup, which is what they’re telling you to try and do.
Your best bet is to get the body work repaired to NMAC standards and return the car.
Got it! Thanks! I will take it to body shop tomorrow.
Yes, I was thinking of taking it to my regular mechanic hoping I do not have to pay $1500
Looks like the sub standard repair is only $236 worth of it, is the car pretty trashed?
No, but it does have a dent on the left rear door - and scrates on the hood, two tires, rear bumper.
This is the coloring job the inspector was talking about.
Would it help if I get the car detailed? (this may be a stupid question which I just realized but learning things like this helps). Please let me know.
I recently had an end of lease inspection on a pathfinder. Thought we’d get dinged on some road rash to the wheels but it wasn’t enough to be considered excess wear and tear. Inside got beat up by two young boys but nothing there either. Happy and somewhat surprised.
That is great! I am little surprised with the inspection but I think he was just doing his normal job. I am still not sure if I can get car detailed and that would help with few scratches/dents.
I did not have any issues inside of the car which was good
I started off by looking at cars.com and NIssan pre owned vehicles. It does seem that with current residual of $14,768 I am definitely going to over pay. I will am thinking of talking to the same sales guy who i got the car and see if he can help. I will continue my research but just wanted to post this in case anyone has any thoughts or comments.
Hey Adigee, I just returned my 2015 Altima in February and was told over the phone I had about $1,000 worth of damage. I was also rear ended in a accident and got it fix through the other person insurance. I just argued with NMAC over the phone and told them that I wasn’t paying that amount. About a month later received the invoice and all I had to pay was deposition fee. They knock everything else off.
Really!! That is awesome. In my case, I do not know if I will be able to get them down so much though. I am definitely not paying that $236 worth of crappy color job
Yes, I wouldn’t pay it either
Was the repair facility a certified Nissan repair shop? If so, you might be able to avoid the hassle by showing the receipt of the repair.
I think leaving it dirty, not filthy, makes it harder to see the scratches. I made sure all the crap was out of it and that’s about it.
It was a Nissan dealer and I do have the receipts from that work - i am going to take everything with me to the body shop.
On a unrelated note, can we name the dealers in the forum or it is bad practice as per rules (maybe?)
I got it washed yesterday night and now i am like why did I do that.
Looking back at the car the scratches are def not worth $250 dollars, I will talk to NMAC and just get it fixed
you can always call the company after you get a bill to negotiate the price down. However, you are still being scammed into overpaying, so take care of that first.
