Electric Bill Cost

So basically something that only happens in a dream. You gotta talk about reality, not what would happen in a perfect system.

So what’s the solution? More government? The system could be perfect if there were repercussions for what they do. They know as long as the people get the minimum to survive and their bread and circus they will never rise up and stand together against them.

trust me you don’t want the govt runnng youre utilities. Costs would be even higher and it would be much more inefficient. Have they not proven they screw up almost everything they touch?

I am a HUGE fan of capitalism but NEE is built on government subsidies. I think its like spend $1 and government gives you $3 when you factor total vaule.

There is also a reason the companies split in 2.

You must be confusing free market capitalism with crony capitalism, AKA :sparkles: fascism :sparkles: with sprinkles.

Govt subsidies aren’t free market. That’s called cronyism and kickbacks. If everyone doesn’t get the same subsidy, which should be $0 anyway, then they’re picking winners and losers. The opposite of how a free market operates.

Aight let’s stay on topic. Thanks

I think with NEM3, the solar benefits went out the window. CA are screwed from both ends…

here’s another fun fact - the billions in tax rebates for consumers in the bill, up to $14k in repair and energy efficiency improvements? yeah we’re not going to be able to get those here in FL because Ron DeDildo has decided that he doesn’t want to. So that’s fun.

Negative. I’ve only seen a few level 2 chargers around parking lots at places like the zoo or county parks. They’re useless because your only there for an hour at best.

I should add i use gas for cooking range and I don’t even have a dryer!! Only washer!! But i do have pool pump that runs 8 hours a day

Anyone on SDGE with Solar and NEM 2.0? I just bought my house a few months ago and I’m a little confused on the billing. My house is all electric with a 2 kW solar system installed. Long story short, my monthly bills have been $5, $2 and $0 this month. But my Net metering charges have accumulated to $327 in this time, with my true up being next June.

If my understanding is correct, I would owe SDGE $327 if my true up date were today? Definitely not upset as $110/mo average electric bill for the summer, is way better than the apartment I moved out of, which was half the size.

My confusion is the near $0 monthly payments. Here’s the usage summary:

The CCA charges:

The NEM summary:

I’m not clearly seeing where this split is coming from? I guess I’d rather pay monthly, than pay $1200+ at one time every year.

I would do solar but my concern is the longevity of the roof and leaking. House I bought had the solar tubes all over the roof to heat the pool. All those bolts they screw into your roof to hold it… yeah, those end up leaking over time.

Ripped the whole damn thing off the roof for my sanity.

I always wonder what the specs are on those readings from comparable homes used as the measuring stick?

Are these homes perfectly insulated, perfect size of hvac, windows with the newest low-E coating etc, brand new, and located in the perfect mix of sun and shade?

What service is this? Just curious for science.

Impressed by how much energy y’all use. Before we got solar, we averaged something like $300/mo for 1200kwh (SoCal). I can’t fathom a 4,000 kWh bill :joy:

Someone had a 4k kWh usage amount for a month?

4,700 kwh to be precise

Would probably clock around $2,000-$2,500 out here. Those are Kevin Hart utility numbers

I thought for sure you had some 5000 sqft home. I don’t know how you’re able to sustain those electricity rates.

Your system is way undersized. You should look in expanding it though that may push you into NEM3.0. Your low bills may be due to credits taking care of your non-bypassable charges.

I love how everyone thinks the brokers here live these extravagant lives in 5k sqft McMansions and Ferraris :joy:

You have me beat by 900 sqft and I’m still chugging along in a 21 tundra with cloth seats.

If this is in FL they actually address this specifically in the miami-dade building code (toughest in FL). As long as they reinforce the straps for the roof its safe. Keep in mind that everything in the code is designed to withstand a cat 5 hurricane. They have sealants they use for waterproofing screws/nails.

Everyone one of your concerns was mine, especially with a new roof. I just found the cost impossible to recover in my used life of it.
