State controlled social media
- Trump stated no pause in tariffs
- 0% tariffs offer that Vietnam gave is not good enough
- 0 for 0 offer that EU gave back in February also not good enough
- 104% tariffs on China starting tomorrow
Translation: going to be market decimation, I donât think anyone knows what his goal is anymore. Bought some dips but more worried about losing my job if this lasts a while. I wouldnât be the first or last.
Does it matter? Either way, it means the Chinese are digging in for a fight. Now the question is whether others are going to join them or not. We got some good news regarding EU and Japan today but weâll see what the news from the EU after their meetings in the next couple of days. And people need to realize that while the stock market is extremely important in America, it is much less so in other countries like China. Chinaâs stock market is only 64% of GDP while US is 200% of GDP. It means that stock market crash is ehh in China while it means everyone and their mother is cooked in the US
Ya ofc it matters if youâre trying to talk about social media reflecting the populace. Their amount of freedom or speech or lack thereof is substantially different than americas.
China is dependent on our market too, they can only build so many zombie cities that no one is inhabiting. Our stock market is the world stock market.
Whether their social media reflects the population or the leadership, both mean that theyâre not backing down. If social media is reflective of their leadership, their leadership is not backing down, if social media is reflective of their population, it means that their leadership does not have the political room to back down.
Yes, China is very dependent on the US for everything. But theyâve caught up in a lot of areas and theyâve diversified a lot in the las Trump administration. I mean the question we should be asking is, âWho blinks first, China or the US? Is America willing to make the necessary sacrifices to win a potential trade war with the Chinese and potentially the rest of the world?â
Even if they let America win this time, for how long? They will not forget this and will make the necessary adjustment to count us out.
Chinas next move is rare earthâŚwhich we likely buy the bulk of and they make a small fortune off. Very important stuff to almost all tech industries
Already done in the last round with the 34% tariffs. They started with export restrictions. They can ramp it up but who knows. I think tomorrow is going to be a quiet day
If you want my off the wall, low probability prediction. US hopes Venezuela goes too far with Guyana. This then gives the US what it needs intervene, and go after their vast supply of natural resources in the process.
Since Chinese politicians are not as worried about what voters think, I believe they will be willing to fight, no matter how much pain is inflicted on the population. Since US politicians are more concerned with votersâ opinions, I believe the US will blink first.
in mango we trust
Gotta read up on Scott Bessent, heâs advising Trump and he is willing to tank the markets in the short to term for long term gain. He has a few papers written inside paywalls but you can get a good idea of his principles.
Moreover, the chinese will simply use the playbook from 2017-2018, when they bankrupted the trump voter farmers in the midwest who export soybean, etc. Before long, the govt was writing bailout checks to keep them afloat, while this nonsense went on. The same thing is going to happen this time around, except theyâll also restrict access to rare earth metals, while also likely grabbing taiwan, since they realize an america in deep recession is unlikely to do anything back.
Your doom/gloom is honestly tiresome. Give it a rest already.
So much of this is incorrect.
The CCP have a lot of things to be criticized for (as do all governments), but as a result of central planning, âghost citiesâ are a myth that has been debunked for years.
To rely less on the US in terms of trade, China has started opening up relationships with other markets in the form of non-predatory loans and infrastructure(many loans have been forgiven). They are propping up these nations not out of good will, but as a form of opening up new markets that they can trade with in the future.
I understand that Americans have been subject to decades and decades of social conditioning, but itâs OK to admit when another country is styling on us, when they are. I wish the US would do all the good things that the Chinese have done for their citizens. Instead, we seem to only learn from the bad things they have done.
My economic outlook: Recession unless this current administration caves to global and domestic pressure.
The social conditioning in China is far more effective than in the USA where it certainly exists as well. Everyone is conditioned everywhere from birth anyway. Their social credit system alone shows that. Our system is voluntary by the media you watch, even the financial credit system here is still voluntary but thatâs going away.
They absolutely have their own form of social conditioning.
The social credit system is also over blown and is not the dystopian system that western media outlets like to paint it as. Itâs just propaganda used for whataboutism or to distract rather than having us fix our own problems
Ya theyâre really styling on us with their religious genocide and forced sterilization, forced abortions /archaic 1 child policy which lasted 45 years
Saying â they have their things to be criticized onâ is the prob the biggest understatement I have read on this site.
Hey but itâs great they have enough folks to fill out all these empty towers they were force to build bc there is nowhere else to invest money in the country
This is the wildest part of all of this to me. All of this confusion, fear, uncertainty is entirely created by this administration. Regardless of ones thoughts on tariffs, I think most people would agree this was the absolute worst way to go about this.
