Does the leased car needs to be return to same dealership?

,

If I leased a car in one state, can I return the car in any other state? Or does it have to be returned to the same dealership?

No. I had one from Florida returned in California.

thanks for the prompt reply.
Do I need to make sure by looking at any cause while signing lease or it’s by default allowed?

No… people move all the time so included by default… to get a dealership to take the car is a different question since it’s added work for them with no revenue so they may try to avoid taking it if possible.

thanks, its helps.

3 years ago I leased a VW GTI at a dealership 45 minutes from my home. Yesterday I returned it to a Volvo dealer 15 minutes from my home. That Volvo dealer also has a VW dealer, but not the one I leased from. No questions or concerns, they landed the vehicle and had the form faxed from their VW dealer to fill out and sign.

Call around in advance to make sure that the dealer will take your lease return. There are places that will tell you to kick rocks if you show up with a lease return without calling.

The general experience I’ve seen around here is that dealers will tell you to kick rocks if you call because they don’t want to ground a car for no business. Showing up would force them to take it.

I suppose they could still deny it. Would be very in-dealership like them.

Infiniti dealers are notorious for this. manufacturers force dealers to buy out a portion of their lease returns. infiniti lease returns are never worth what the buyout indicates, so they don’t want other dealers’ lease returns

Great advice here by Mike. My personal experience with returning a Hyundai lease.
I had leased a SUV from North Carolina, the lease ended and I was in New York. I called one dealer and they were not willing to take my lease return. Called the second dealer and they were very accommodating. The lease return process took approximately about 1 Hr.
I’d also recommend the vehicle inspection at least a 2-3 weeks in advance.

I think i should ask dealer while leasing the car to give something in writing that car can be return to any dealership.

Moved from MO to FL with a leased Corolla - I had to get approval from Toyota financial to drop it off at a different dealer. I wouldn’t think it would be denied for any reason, but it was definitely a step they made me take.

Bought my Ford Escape in Ohio, returned it in California. No question was ever asked.

Ive returned probably a dozen BMWs to a different dealership than from which they originated with never any issues (or even questions).

Returned a VW a year ago in a different state from where I originally got it because the original dealership closed down. In and out in 10 min. I did have to call around to 3 different dealerships until I found one that would take the return. (Leased in NY, returned in NJ)

My personal experience with a local GM dealership was that they did not want to take a lease that wasn’t leased from them. They gave me the run around, and then a voicemail of the lease manager who never returned my calls. I ended up returning it to the original dealership which as a little further away. My wife thought it was too far for me to come pick me up, so I had to take a Lyft back home.

Looks like it’s all depends on brand… bmw being luxury brand allows that witth out any hassle but other may be giving some trouble.

So how does a written clause from Dealer A make Dealer B accept the lease return? Dealer B doesn’t care what Dealer A told you.

Does anyone know a dealer in nassau county that will accept an infiniti lease return?

Separately, can nissan dealers take back infiniti and do the grounding/odometer reading?
