Remember, you are returning a car not to a dealer but to FS. I returned all my leases not to the same dealer I got it from, last car was returned to NJ dealer even it was leased in MD.
Same: Ford bought in Delaware returned in CA. Mazda bought in MD grounded in Ohio.
Call first, make an appointment, donât try to do it on a busy Fri-Sun. Get pre-return inspection done prior, and itâs just an odometer statement and keys.
Exactly. Itâs a courtesy to the captive lender that they both share.
Gets messier if you leased through someone other than captive. E.g. if you leased a GM at dealer but used US Bank instead of Ally (GMâs captive) - not every GM dealer uses US Bank so they may not accept the return.
But if itâs the captive and the dealer said no, and that was only place conveniently to ground it, I might put up a fight with the dealer first and then the lender (who will tell you they have to accept it).
