California, interested in Outlander PHEV - there’s a 0% 48 month financing deal now or $399 lease deal for 39 months with $1k rebate and the $6200 federal lease ev incentive. Does anyone know if Santander allows early lease buyouts? Thank you
The last post in this thread mentions a recent lease followed by an immediate buyout with Mitsubishi/Santander.

Do your future self a favor and don’t buy a car from a brand struggling this much.
It’s not struggling lol, I researched this, their sales are up 35 percent over Q1 2023 and Outlander sales up 41%:
Mitsubishi Motors Announces Strong First Quarter 2024 Sales
It’s fully Japanese-built also and their plugin tech has been around since 2013 (Most popular PHEV SUV globally by sales) and it’s actually more reliable than the Rav 4 prime. I have about 2 dealers within 20 miles, and 3 more within 50 miles. The S-AWD system is from the Lancer Evolution with Yaw control - blows away the Rav 4 prime handling (0.85g vs 0.75g on skidpad).
I am so glad that “mexico now” says that Mitsubishi is doing well.
That brand is absolute trash
And absolutely none of that will matter when you try to sell it.
If you’d rather have the family hauler CUV with Yaw control and higher skid pad numbers over the one that will hand you a big bag of cash then go for it.
Have you actually driven one and felt it justified the massively higher cost of ownership?
Did he really quote skid pad numbers for FAMILY SUVs?
How is it trash? More reliable than Chinese-owned Volvo.
Some of us can afford to buy what we want and not worry about selling it. I’m giving away my old car to a friend.
If you like it, enjoy. You do you.
The absolute worst vehicles i have ever driven have been modern Mitsubishis and while the Outlander PHEV was nicer than most of the Mitsubishis, it was still miserable.
What about it was miserable?
Sorry if this off topic, and I’m not trying to take over this thread, but I’m trying to lease a 2023 Outlander PHEV because there’s a $9750 incentive offered through Santander. No dealership is willing to lease right now. A lot of them have jacked up their prices to offset the cost of the lease or just refiuse to deal with me altogether when they find out I want to lease. This has been the most frustrating experience of my life. It’s like they’re so used to ripping people off they’re offended when someone actually wants a decent deal.
Theyre doing you a favor.
I recall it just feeling super cheap, cramped for its size, didnt perform particularly well. At least it didnt feel like a death trap like some of their other vehicles i had driven.
If you can afford it get something actually nice. Hell even a pathfinder is better than this.
If you are cheap, just say you are cheap
What year did you drive
Except it’s nicer than the pathfinder, better equipped, better interior, better AWD system, reliable plugin/engine.
I found three dealers in California leasing, maybe it’s your location.
Was a fresh off the lot 24 if memory serves. Was a coworker’s so going off what i recall him telling me.
Oh they’re definitely leasing, just not willing to give me a good deal or a deal at all since it will be $9750 off. Pretty much MSRP or 2% off and the incentive/rebate.
If it wasn’t a plugin it was slow. The plug-in does 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. Also it’s the SELs with leather interior that I’m getting and you can confirm with the reviews everyone says it blows away the Rav 4 prime - my neighbor has the Rav 4 prime and the interior quality is lacking.
Which isnt very fast these days.
I went and got back into my GC 4xe which was better in every single way.
