Deals on Nice Wagons

Only the plugin hybrid (recharge) Volvos have absurd money factors. The mild hybrids (B5,B6s) have great rates right now approx. 0.0004.

Correct that is exactly what you do

Two things can be true at the same time. The PNW may not be as competitive as California or northeast.

But wagons are a niche in the US. You are as likely to find a good deal anywhere in the US as you are on sports cars or convertibles.

This is total nonsense. You can get a deal on convertibles (just like any car), and at least 10% off on an S5 if not more at many dealers with some effort. Volvo wagons can be had as well for decent percentages off of MSRP with some minimal work.

As far as “sports cars” are concerned, this is not 1995.

It isn’t about the % off msrp…

I can get a v60 for myself at -4800 below invoice. That does not matter when the MF is .00410…

Duh, of course.

If you are dumb enough to pay that MF with a decent chunk off MSRP/invoice or whatever to offset it for essentially “no deal” then you aren’t reading this on LHer.

You get a 6/10 on your survey for that.

I tried really hard to get a deal on a wagon. No haps. Not easy. No matter how much work. No broker has any deals either. Checked E Wagon, Audi A6 All Road, Volvo v60 Polestar, and Taycan Turismo. Nothing nada zilch zero…

Expand your search to more dealers, consider shipping if the deal is good enough and look at non-Polestar Volvo wagons.

The inventory numbers are low enough on these (A6 Allroad for sure) that the search will be more difficult but not impossible. Use CarGurus, CarEdge and AT to find the lot anchors sitting for 90+ days and go to work.

A6 Allroad for example:

Edit: For an A6 Allroad, on CarEdge I saw 6 alone that were 200+ days on the market. Someone will deal with you if you are for real.

How are they lasting so long on dealer lots?

I still have customers from CT or east end of long island calling for v60cc or v60 polestar and I can ask $2500-$5000 over msrp respectively and people pay it.

I don’t know.

Back in January of 2020, there was a small Mazda dealer in Oregon that had a new 2016 MX-5 that was still sticker and they wouldn’t budge even 4-5 years later.

If you are stubborn you are in for a long haul (and high flooring).

Edit:

Your answer is in bold (assuming “CT” means Greenwich, etc. and the “east end of LI” means east of Manorville).

You can always look for a fart car like the :potato: did and see what you find.

Cold calling dealers works well on that and you might stumble upon a SM/GSM that may have a soon to be on the market fart wagon ready to go.

Do you have any idea what the wrath of a GM is when they realize you took the ONLY thing that sells over msrp in your product stack and made it a demo?

You mean the wrath of the GM for the showroom queen that ended up with the non-disclosed and repainted hood and a replaced fender before two infants puked in it that later as a demo also ends up as the GM’s son’s handiwork for a blacklight tutorial for the local CSI team?

Yes, yes I do.

By the time the Outback had worn out its welcome, demos were the only thing on the ground

  • first and last demo for me
  • every black car is my last black car, I hope this one truly is
  • I was planning to drive it to disposition, but let’s say I’m paying attention to this thread because there are very few options in 2024

The used wagon market is not much better. This election season, when a politician tries to shake your hand, ask what they are doing to secure luxury station wagon availability for 2025, and then make them kiss a baby with a cold sore.

That was oddly specific :joy:

This post made me happy. I feel very understood :joy:

That’s why I’m hoping

  1. That Audi will do something uncharacteristic and blow out A4 Allroads (even though A4 wagons have curiously small cargo capacity for their size).

  2. That Audi will blow out A5 Sportbacks.

  3. That the K4 hatch will be AMAZing.

  4. That I can find a decent deal on an Arteon (that would have to be this year, I guess).

  5. If all else fails, I’ll be happy w/ a Jetta GLI and that it hopefully comes in the cool matte blue color that VW was showing for the non-GLI in its press release for MY 2025.

No you don’t.

lol - this response is gold

Wait, I don’t want to find a decent deal on an Arteon or you don’t think I can find a decent deal? Should’ve specifed that I meant for finance, not lease.
