Dealers Crazy these days?

Is it just me or are a lot of these dealers coming up with some outrageous lease prices?
Currently leasing a Lyriq so I’ve been looking for an optiq or Lyriq to replace my current one. Last dealer I talked to came out with a quote of over $700 a month. My current Lyriq Lux 2 lease is $570.

I think I may have to bring my Jeep gasser out of the garage and drive that for a while.

Supply and demand.

Your current lease is irrelevant to pricing on a new vehicle.

What does a well-rearched target deal based on the current programs for a Lyriq look like for your situation?

It should be right around the $400 mark.

Lyriq going for 400/mo is prob pushing unicorn status unless maybe you have employee code or have significant $$ upfront. Or have no sales tax (Texas). Those may get you into the 400s effective on a single pay.

I guess your “unless” must be right. So what were you saying about unicorns?

Employee code isn’t even good on Lyriq, supplier is better if you’re able to find a 2026. There’s still no way you get in the 400s. How do you expect it to be less than your last lease given EV credit is gone? Is this a bait post?

$400/mo with significant money upfront isn’t $400/mo

What percent dealer discount is required to get you there?

Exactly the point I was trying to make to OP

You weren’t making a point. You tried to be smarty pants.

I had it set to 10%. Looks like the “captive programs” options is throwing my pricing off. Which selection do you usually pick?

lack of EV production and supply and increased demand because of Golden Age $5/Gallon Gas should tell you everything you need to know about EV buying right now. My hyundai dealer has tons of ioniq5s - they sell them at full pop.

Hackrs won’t agree. But for the average buyer it has its own “logic” to it. The MSRP was already reduced ~$10,000 from 2025. There’s a $7,000 financing rebate.

The Cadillac dealers are a bit nuts. Lyriqs aren’t moving very well in my impression because I’m seeing quite a lot of paper punches in my search, but I don’t have their sales metrics to really know.

As far as I can tell(and the route I’m going) is that your best bet is higher trim loaners. One-pay is a must. The residuals are still good with only a ~$500 penalty for the mileage, and if they have been sitting you have more hope for a decent(15%+) dealer discount before the meager $2k competitive offer. Having supplier or getting a GM friends and family helps a lot.

Personally the cars are nicer but don’t have a ton of advantages over a high-trim Kia EV6, so unless it’s a killer deal it’s a pass. I’m going this route because they are they only option for a previously titled car to get a new lease, and I need the car to be “used” to qualify for a large local incentive.

That’s because for years they think they have been selling BMWs, Porsches and MBs.

Only a rare few dealers received and understood the memo that they were actually selling Chevrolets but with faux chrome bezels on the cupholders.

Yeah the only reasons I’m even looking at Lyriq over a BlazEr is CarPlay and the availability of retired loaners, not because I’m expecting true luxury.

I had one Cadillac dealer claim $16k was a great price for a 24/10 one pay on a 2025 loaner with high miles. I spoke to the sales manager and he said the vehicle is in high demand and they will change the money factor to make money. He also admitted it’s cheaper to buy these cars on used market. I don’t understand the strategy when dealers operate like that. I told them I only reached back out bc they were an outlier and it seemed like they sent me sum of 24 payments vs properly run a one pay but they defended it and openly admitted to inflating MF. Lmao

Operate like what? They’re just trying to make money. I’m sure there are plenty of people who think $660/mo is a fair deal for a new Cadillac. And there’s nothing wrong with marking up the MF.

If you’re looking for a LH-worthy deal then a few dealers will play ball but most will not. Many will tell you you’re crazy. This is nothing new and certainly not unique to Cadillac dealers (try hacking anything from a CDJR dealer).

Just make them an offer, if they say no thank them and move on to the next dealer.

Sadly, very accurate.

Limited EV production coming here thanks to the EV rebate gone, accompanied with $27 gallon per gas and more people are leaning towards EVs. Terrible hacking environment for those.

I’m 9 and 15 months away from my leases expiring and wish I would’ve gone 48 months on those :joy:
