Dealers Crazy these days?

Why are you operating in a way where you’re fielding dealer quotes and arguing with them over price?

Business aside, i actually enjoy driving certain EVs. I purposely did a 36 month on my rs etron last sept, despite the payment being similar on 24. Yes, my payment sucks, but i don’t have to worry about finding another ev until some point in 2029 after than extension.

You know what people returning 3 year old kia niros are taking? Elantras, Sentras and Altimas.

I love driving my EVs. Have a Taycan and EQS580. Same cars easily an extra $1k a month between them now. Hopefully something changes between now and next summer, but I’m skeptical.

It won’t.

Even if gas slipped back up under $2, The demand from people coming back for another EV lease will absorb the available stock. There’s absolutely no incentive nor need to make loser deals on these cars like there was 3 years ago.

The problem is production at this point, and it prob won’t change for a few years. These were heading towards mass production, now they’re limited. Just dumb policy as we should be adopting more.

If it doesn’t make dollars it doesn’t make sense.

Feels a bit like 1-2 years from now will be a golden time for buying high end EV lease returns.

People put waaaaayyy too much emphasis on gas prices. I always roll my eyes when I hear about people ditching the Denali because gas went up $1. OK so you can afford the $1200 payment but you can’t afford an extra $50 in gas a month? The math ain’t mathin’ as the kids says (do they still say that 6,7?).

Same with EVs. I can’t fathom buying an EV just to save a few bucks while gas in temporarily higher than average. I’m not making a judgement on EVs. I’m making a judgement on fundamentally changing your driving habits for an irrational reason.

We’ve been programmed to freak out about the cost of gas irrationally. Classic example is driving 10 miles out of the way to 30 cents a gallon, ignoring the time cost and the gas wasted to do that. Or waiting in line for 30 mins at Costco to save 15 cents a gallon vs the station across the street. Nobody would wait in line 30 mins to save $4 for anything else. But for gas? Lines are 20 deep.

I still think there’s some tremendous values to be had in the used EV market. Low to mid $20k’s gets you a pretty decent vehicle. A whole lot more value than an ICE vehicles in that price range.

I don’t disagree. I was commenting only on buying an EV because gas prices. I’d never buy an EV myself. I’ve leased before. Might again if those screaming deals from 2022-4 ever come back.

Costco saves me $12 per tank from all the national brands. Thats about $600 per year for two beemers.

Depends on your use case for the vehicle, distances driven, where you live (gas vs. electric costs), solar or not, L2 at home or not, free charging at the office and a million other variables.

We currently have an EV, a hybrid, a gas SUV and a diesel truck combined with a large solar array, WFH schedules, 2x L2 chargers and a few other factors that make it all worthwhile to roll both an EV and a hybrid in the fleet.
