Those are pretty hefty discounts for Tacos. Is that all dealer discount or is there a rebate baked in there too?

just discount. I went on car edge and found tacos that had been on the lot for a while and messaged those dealers. one tried to tell me the site was wrong then immediately offered me the discount. I also called and asked for sales mgr to start. I am good at the convo to buy cars. leasing is new to me. do the deals look ok?

thanks for responding.

I also think Toyota is struggling in tx. days to sell is taking a lot longer and lots of dealers are running 0% financing. that’s my preference but I have equity in the current taco that I would like to invest in something else.

The biggest issue with leasing in Texas is tax, need to find something with tax credits. But I assume for a midsize/compact truck it might be harder to find something for less than this, plus the Toyota might have the upside of equity at the end

I am hoping for equity at the end. and yeah the taxes suck. spending aprox $1,750 - $2,000 more on takes than I would in another state.

The RV are something that you/dealer can’t control. Do you know if the MF is marked up? Are there any dealer adds on these trucks?

please define dealer adds. they have options from the factory. it is unknown if they have other adds like window etching and other things like that. my discount is off the msrp and not off of a price with other things added.

it is unknown if the MF is marked up. it is my understanding that they don’t have to tell me that. I am seeing other areas in Texas listed on Edmunds that say MF is 215 not 225.

Dealer adds would be the supplemental window sticker that is next to the factory (Monroney) window sticker. It might have nitrogen fill in tires, window tint, door edge guards, etc. i.e. items that were not installed/included at the factory.

If it’s a Toyota Financial lease you can check on here or Edmunds forum for the base MF. If it’s a US Bank lease (which a lot of TX Toyota dealers use) you will not know the base MF. As you said, the dealer does not have to disclose buy rate to you. Only what you’re being charged.

thats what I was thinking for the adds. I put these together on the phone so I haven’t seen them in person yet. I asked for the window stickers and I am getting crickets back so maybe they are being shady with the MSRP.

I will ask for the bank so I know which rate I am getting. Thank you

IIRC, Texas is Gulf States Toyota, similar to SETF and their program. Though as you alluded to, US Bank and Ally could be options as well.

I am in Texas and looking to sell/trade in a truck with equity in it then get into a lease. The question is if I don’t apply any of my profit to the lease can I still take advantage of the tax savings like I would if I were buying the truck?

example:

sale price - $39,000
trade projection - $22,000
difference - $17,000

In a sale I would only pay tax on the difference. Which I assume is because it is changing the financed amount because it is being applied to the downpayment. In a lease scenario do I save those taxes if I don’t apply any of that money to the lease?

Terrible deal. Text me to save like 2k. Or can get a nice sport or offrd around that price

So you’ll save another $2k on top of the savings I already listed? Also, that looks like a PA number. If that’s your location will you get the truck to me for free with no miles or sort out a local deal?

Op is scared in a scammer. Anyone want to vouch for me :joy:

Saved him $2350 over his initial deal also

You’re calling me scared I think you’re a scammer because I won’t cash app a stranger on the internet who won’t send me any details about a deal other than they can save me money. Sounds like you may be a prince in a foreign country. As I said in the text, you may be real but it’s outside my comfort zone to send money to a stranger on the internet.

Take care sir.

@Jrouleau426 is for real and is not a scammer. You can look at his review page if you need reassurance. I don’t know how his fee structure works, but he’s not a scammer.

Thats great! Hear me out though… I just met you and told you I could save you $2k but I won’t say how and I won’t tell you who or where the dealer is. I am also just a screen name on the internet. Now, Venmo, cash app, or Zelle me $500 for that information. I understand that people need to get paid for what they do. That is just not a way I feel comfortable finding out if he is legit or not. I would think there is a better way to collect a fee for services rendered. Maybe one where there is recourse if something goes wrong. Anyways, via text I thanked him for the lesson and didn’t call him a scammer then he came here to laugh at the situation and call me out. I then said take care sir to him. Legit or not it doesn’t matter to me.

If you’d prefer someone closer @Ryan_S is a Toyota dealer in TX

I mentioned Ryan in the other thread OP created. Not sure if he reached out or not.

@Hyde_M Is there a better way to do things? Probably

Most brokers on here are hesitant to give out too much detail b/c 7 out of 10 times the customer will then take that quote directly to the dealer and attempt to get the same deal without paying the broker fee.
