I tried to get the calculator to match up with these numbers but wasn’t able to. Dealer is saying price is “unheard of.” After I received the write up below, I said I’d like to get the payment under $700. He then asked if he could get me at $699 per month with $2000 down, would I come in today.
Move on, i have a EQE and its ok with space not the greatest. But GLB for that kind of payment no thank you. I think theres better cars than spend that on GLB. Unless your heart is set on that, its a different story. No lie i would get a loaded blazer EV over GLB, thats just me
As a ICE “three row” SUV the GLB is a curious choice.
Do you want a compact SUV or do you want a useable third row?
I don’t need to use the 3rd row for passengers. Most likely would be using it in a pinch with a group of people (although that has not happened in awhile).
I sometimes drive from VA to MI and vice versa because we are from MI but live in VA bc my husband is active duty. I really cannot imagine having to stop multiple times to charge the care on the way there. It’s a 12 hour drive.
I’d do a hybrid, but I don’t see many out there.
Also, this just a “me” thing, my dad worked for GM and all they get are GMs and Chevys and I have never been a fan.
Not all vehicles and not all segments can be lease hacked.
This feels like the opposite of hacking.
A subpar product at an unreasonable total of payments. $26,500 in one lease. By definition it goes back and you replace it with something else. Assume $28,000 for the next lease. The combined sums, both ending in zero equity, is outrageous TBH.
Is your heart set on a GLB? Mercedes Benz in general has not leased well in a while. There are other luxury make SUVs that are leasing better now. Are you shopping for the lowest price lux small SUV or are you searching for the best deal you can get on a GLB because that’s the only car you are interested in?
I totally respect it was just a reference but theres better options than spending all that money on that car, unless if you can find a loaner or left over.
Also tell your husband thank you for his service!
I will, thank you!
I really liked the GLC but that once is pricier. I’ve been asking for demos too, so far no luck.
I am also getting quotes for the BMW X1.
I am coming from my third Volvo XC90 and I can’t afford to get into another one, the prices are just crazy. I am also ready for a change, the interior hasn’t changed at all tech-wise or aesthetically. I really like the LCD dash panels in the BMW and Mercedes.
Appreciate your honesty.
Unfortunately you are picking vehicles that are pretty much the worst to lease. X1 is a horrible lease candidate and GLC is a “pay to play” vehicle. Just about any Mercedes Benz product for that matter is “pay to play” except for EVs. The BMW X3 and Infiniti QX60 are you best bets now for a reasonable lease. Have you looked at those? MSRP is only one part of the equation when leasing. So don’t just look at the MSRP and think, “this is going to be expensive.”
Is that because of the residual amount is what matters most?
When I was in your shoes I bought a Telluride. If I had to do it over in Q2 2024 I’d have bought/leased a pHEV like a Sorento or 2023 Santa Fe
Almost everyone has those.
The one piece of kit I consider a game changer is a blind spot camera (not a beep beep monitor) and MB/BMW don’t have that.
Question, if I am leasing, aren’t I always turning it in at the end and not getting anything back in terms of equity? Or should be looking for something that will be worth more at lease-end than your usual run of the mill car, and sell it to get that equity back?
I just saw that on the Santa Fe Calligraphy, it’s in the dash! I have not seen that before.
I do really like the Santa Fes but I like the 2024 model, and I like the Calligraphy, but that is just as expensive/more than the BMW/Mercedes I was looking at. I might just look at going down to the XLT or SEL.
The SEL is very well equipped for its price.
When you lease, high residual value, low money factor, lease cash, and the willingness of a dealer to discount off MSRP BEFORE incentives make a big difference. That’s why Infiniti QX60s with a $59xxx MSRP are leasing in the $4xx - $5xx range. X3s are kind of the same way now. BMW is pushing the X3 since the body style is changing in '25.
Now, it’s hard to find a vehicle that checks all those boxes. But if you can find one that checks at least most of those factors you can still get a favorable lease.
MB for the most part has low residual values, high money factors, and little to no lease cash. Hence high lease payment even on entry level vehicle such as the GLB.
To the OP, if you are set on getting the GLB we can help you get the best deal possible, but it’s still going to be a fairly ugly lease unless you do the GLB EV.
I rarely say, “Got bigger,” but, at that price (and given that OP wants a luxury make), I’d totally be suggesting an X3, as well.
To the OP, X1s don’t lease that well, either.
