Deal check - 2024 VW Atlas Cross Sport SE w/ Technology

,

Looking for thoughts on this lease proposal. We are turning in a 2021 GMC Acadia and have $1250 in equity in which the dealer is taking $699 of that to cover the acquisition fee and the other $551 into cap cost reduction. Promo with VW is 0 down, 0 first payment, and 0 security deposit. 36 / 12 lease numbers. Dealer is in Mishawaka, Indiana and vehicle will be registered in Michigan. Appreciate any help.

Did you get other quotes for your GMC?

The national VW Atlas Cross promo states that TTL is due at signing.

According to the PDF, this is also not a true $0 DAS. Calculator indicates that TTL is ~$1K (not sure how accurate that is), on top of your trade equity.

This may be as good as it gets for this model (VWs generally don’t lease well), but have you looked at, say, a Mazda CX-90 PHEV?

Is this the only vehicle you’ll consider?

Not only one we would consider but it’s the only one that we’ve found that isn’t over or at $700 a month. And no we haven’t shopped by price, i’ve been emailing dealers for the past 3 weeks about pricing and after that lease pricing on similarly sized vehicles.

Had one other dealer offer the exact same price for our GMC as this dealer, however only towards a new Chevrolet or Buick on their lot. Wasn’t just a stand alone price if that makes sense.

That’s not really a good way to gauge pricing.

Check the Marketplace

Pretty sure I’ve seen Mazdas, Volvos, JGCs and Pallurides at better values.

What brands do and do not populate the Marketplace is generally a reflection of which brands support their leases and which don’t. There’s really no point pursuing the latter for leases because it’s such an uphill battle and a suboptimal outcome.

You can also save a ton of money by getting one of the remaining Honda Passports at a big discount and financing it, and being on a 4-5 year ownership cycle instead of 3-year leases.

Despite what VW advertises, “sign and drive” isn’t a promotion. Almost any car can be leased for $0 DAS if you ask.
