Deal Check: 2021 Bolt Premium $7500 with $9k incentives

Lol a few of the places in our area still have the 2020s… one of them has like 10+… their tactics is to lure you in and sell you a 4000 warranty and 2500 dealer add on of theftpatrol and some kinda paint finish crap…

2020’s, especially the premiers, are hard to come by in so cal. The one shit hole dealership that has about 8 of them will not even draw up a one pay. I am sure they use these units to lure in people with crap credit. Easy to lease one of these at 10K-12K, and have someone think they got a deal. Frustrating.

Can you clarify this:
“Easy to lease one of these at 10K-12K, and have someone think they got a deal. Frustrating.”

The 2020’s on a onepay, in So Cal, assuming you could find one, would run about ~6K. The local dealership that has several in stock, will not deal on them, and will not do a one pay. My guess is because the car is so cheap to begin with, it is easy to lease one at 10K to someone who is uneducated on the pricing, or has poor credit to begin with. Your deal in NC is obviously different. I’m guessing that demand is not as strong in your neck of the woods.

I’m just not 100% sure this is true though, my finance person said it was, but there does seem to be information from other sources which says this approach is not possible…

We need someone to successfully do this

This has been discussed in another thread.

Yup…That is the other information I was thinking about.

The fact that the finance director I inquired with said that it could be done made me curious about what would happen if he tried😁. Probably wouldnt fly…

Can you PM me the dealer info to see if its the one I’m thinking about? Don’t want to waste my time.

I’m also in NC (near Charlotte). Were you able to close on the deal?

Here is the latest… I can’t get the numbers to work in calculator. I think they have NC taxes wrong.

Also, I add GM Employee discount, which I expeted to drop the “price” $2000, but it only appears to have dropped it $1200 from where I was. I have also moved to BLUE (+400) and to 12K.

Is this a 2020, or 2021? What is the MSRP on this vehicle?

Sorry. 2021 Premium with Kinetic Blue and black bowtie. $44,410.

It’s a killer discount.

Not exactly sure on your tax structure, but I was able to get the calculator pretty close using the numbers in the contract above.

Thanks, I have been working on it forever!.

Yeah, NC pays 3% on the “cost” (montly payment + encentives/rebates), I think. Not full “sales” price. I think that is a $700 mistake on the form.

Yeah the calculator is a guide, and is not perfect. Especially with that tax structure. I just stuffed the money in Gov fees, and took sales tax down to 0%.

Are you going to take this offer?

Likely. I need to iron out taxes and am a bit annoyed that when they combined the “original” discount and then my GM discount, I lost $800 from what I expected. Initially they offered $6K off the sticker. Then my GM Employee discount ($2000). So I was hoping for $8K off sticker, but it is only $7210. I’ll probably do it, but I want some final numbers before the 6hr train ride to MD from NC

In California, the best discount I have seen offered is 10.5%ish range. Based on your taxes, rebates, and this discount, I would say it is a very solid deal, even if you are unable to “chisel” any more from the selling price. Good luck, and post an update when you seal the deal. Good luck!

Will do. CA has the benefits of State incentives, but that has driven demand. There are dealers over here with 40 on their lot that they need to move so I guess that adds some discounting.

As someone who grew up in MD and currently lives just south of you in NC, a one way car rental may get you there faster, for less than a plane ticket, plus you have more flexibility in when you depart. The downsides are the ride is boring (especially if you have done it 100 times before, you have to drive and finding a one way drop off agency near the dealership may limit your choices).

I’ll be interested in your path back and where you plan to charge to make it back to NC.

Thanks, I was thinking Amtrak to DC. But might look in to one-way rental. I think Richmond is my best place for a stop. It is under halfway so won’t be an efficient stop, but then I’ll have 150 left to get back to RDU.
