Looking to get into the 2021 corvette. Most dealers I have called have been are honestly zero help. I’m going to gather leasing this thing will not work so I will look to buy. Seems msrp is the going rate which def sucks. Most dealers I called in ny want 1k non refundable deposit w no guarantee to even get car next year. My bmw lease is up July 2021 so thinking that would be perfect timing. Ai don’t think I’ll commit 1k non refundable so any advice here? Thinking of maybe even waiting as long as possible to get hype down and dealing w one car in family for now?
Why not extend your lease? Corvette C8 anticipation is going to probably carry over for most of the 2021 model year if not into 2022. You might a good deal or another car in the meantime.
Might have to be that way. The car is seriously beautiful but I don’t think I can see myself paying msrp and doing non refundable deposit
I think most non refundable deposits are refundable. But it’s unlikely you will buy another Chevy if you wanted a vette
If written in writing, it’s not. Unless the dealers make stupid mistake.
I’m guessing there’s no getting around paying msrp and the non refundable payment. My guess is msrp will be going on for quite some time and maybe I can go into dealer and get them to back off non refundable
A lot of listings have been over MSRP.
Got a dealer to say msrp but they said they couldn’t even promise a build next year. Crazy to me for a Chevy
That is nuts. Why not get another BMW or T8 Volvo? I saw an incredible T8 Volvo deal offered by NE broker recently.
Lol see that corvette? Thing is beautiful. I’m in. Situation to keep low miles on it. Love the convertible too. Bmw m4 I’m looking at probably over 90k. I can keep corvette at 70k
It is selling out because it is the first ever mid-engine Corvette and it is a great deal for the money. If you want a car with similar stock specs and capability, you will need to spend $100k+ and take a visit to Italy or Germany. Or you can also look into a used Corvette since you are not leasing
I want new especially since I’m looking to keep it for 5 years. I might be talked into msrp, any one w dealer knowledge know if I can get them to go from non refundable to refundable?
Are there none of the 2020 in stock anywhere? Or do you want to build one with your own specs?
Also, if your current lease is up in July 2021, that is more than a year left. Maybe, I am wrong but the hype should come down once this year passes. Right now you are surrounded by a lot of events which is why dealers are trying to lock you down with a “non-refundable” deposit and still not being able to guarantee a build.
Like 7 2020 available within eastern part of us and they are very high msrp cars
When the hellcat and then the demon first came out it was going for over msrp also the shelby, raptor, etc etc had the same pattern these are special when they first come out and there usually isn’t enough production in the first year or beginning months to keep up with demand. Your best bet is to just wait it out until 2022 MY, maybe extend your lease or pick something up on swapalease or transfer section.
I agree though the c8 is beautiful and changes the game for the corvette brand.
Also of note people are saying the base cost of the c8 will go up substantially in the next few model years so there’s a bit of uncertainty there.
If MSRP is the market value for the Corvette, it is no different than how you can buy other cars for X% off MSRP. The used car market will adjust and the Corvette will hold its value better compared to if it was heavily discounted.
As for the deposit, I would suggest going to route of refundable if they can’t get an allocation and then non-refundable once the order is filled. I don’t think you will find anyone willing to give you a completely non-refundable deposit right now.
@wam22 thank you. That’s exactly what I was thinking and I think it is fair. Thanks guys for the advice. I’ll go talk to the dealer and see where it goes
@chevysalesgirl I know you don’t do sales on east coast. Can you help me out here. Dealer willing to do msrp for 2021 corvette and I’m working on the non refundable deposit to be refundable up to start of build. Should I try for any discount?? Thanks!
Haha considering the multiple phone calls for two years on 2020 Vettes I highly doubt any will go below MSRP. But in California, all deposits are refundable.
Your situations screams “transfer friendly” lease. Throw down your $1,000 deposit (refundable or not) and get in the queue. C8 is sweet! Hopefully you get yours before, on or around July 2021. If July rolls around and no C8, negotiate a transfer-friendly new BMW lease (popular model, favorably optioned, no MSDs, buy down the cap costs to hit a transfer friendly monthly payment) and run with a new lease until your C8 is built. Enjoy - both new vehicles in the future.
