These things are everywhere in business. They are stuck with the technology, because expense to swap out thousands of printers and ERP products is expensive.
Our company just got rid of them about 4 years ago. It was a monumental task that required an entire rework and swapping out to a newer SAP (windows based) system from the old legacy mainframe system. The cost was in the multi millions, and there a still a few groups or business functions who have not been transferred over because of the risks involved.
If it was as easy as swapping out a printer, it would be done already
