This is exactly what I said would happen: participating NJ Hyundai dealers are removing Hyundai lease credits (Hyundai Financial oddly allows them to pocket the $7,500 lease credit) and making cars such as the Ioniq more expensive to lease with the $5,000 NJ Charge Up rebate:
Edit: to be fair, programs did recently change over so if the calculator doesn’t adjust back within a few days and reflect the Hyundai lease credits then they’re going the extra mile of adjusting the calculator so customers don’t go in trying to combine all available rebates. Last I checked payments on the Kona and Ioniq were ~ $200/month cheaper to lease without cash down compared to now with $5,000.
So, I’m pretty much waiting right now to see what happens with Chevy. The wife has decided that the Bolt EUV is “cute” and I’ve been told that is what we’re getting. Waiting to see an actual Bolt EUV show up or be available with Super Cruise.
I’d really prefer to see the new Kona or new Niro be available sometime soon, but even clicking on links for the 2021 Niro brings me back to the 2020 page.
I don’t think any change between 2020 and 2021 Niro. Hoping 2022 they update with some of the new technology that is being used on the EV6 / Ioniq 5 models
Kona was too small, liked the Niro better than the Leaf, however @aronchi SV+ deals were good and were my back up if I wasn’t able to get the Niro.
Yes 2020 ex. Got the last one, there might be 2020 premiums left. Manahawkin Kia - I worked with Chandler. Not sure how many Niro EVs they might have left now.
Matt Blatt Kia appeared to have some left as of earlier this week.
and the Phase 2 is effective, as you might already know. Just wanted to share a quick deal my friend got on a 2021 Bolt Premier (with a black bow tie! :)) in NJ: $5200 one-pay lease for 12K miles/36mo, post-POS $5K rebate. It looked like they sold all Bolts within a day, so I was told.
Although it is not what we managed to get in the fall, it’s still a pretty good deal, for $144/mo and $0 fees.
Go, NJ EVs!
My friend got it at Seacoast Chevy in Ocean. As I see, they are out of 2021 models already, but have plenty of 2022 that are by almost 10K cheaper, also incl. EUV. I do not know what lease terms and incentives apply to 2022, other than $5K NJ Chargeup rebate though. Costco is N/A, according to the dealer.
The payment on the Ioniq Limited becomes more realistic once the Hyundai lease incentive is factored in. Whether dealers will honor this is another question.
Two years ago dealers were acting like they were doing us a favor by honoring the calculator, and some wouldn’t even pass on the entire incentive. Apparently some Hyundai dealers have a terrible pay plan since the salesman told us later on he was trying to get 5% of gross by overcharging for the car. Getting somebody to pay $500-$1,000 over MSRP in a normal market to make $25-$50. Makes sense.
