Can I extend my Toyota lease for one year?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently leasing a 2016 Prius, lease ends in July 2019 (I took over this lease from someone else in July 2017).
I know I’ll be moving abroad in July 2020, I won’t need a car anymore then.

The simplest way would be to extend the current lease for one year. I’ve called TFS asking if I could extend the current lease for an additional year, the agent told me that the extension would be 6 months max.

I found this post on the forum where the OP stated that he had extended his lease 6 months, and and he’s been able to do it for another 6 months period.

Do you think I should call TFS again and try to insist to get the one year extension ?
Or should I extend for 6 months, and then try for another 6 months at the end of the first 6 months ? Knowing that if it fails, then I would need to find another car for 6 months only which won’t be easy at all.

Any comment/help would be much appreciated.

Call TFS and tell them you would like to know the max extension you can do. It could be 12mos, but they will only do in 6mos increments.

But if they say 6mos max, then maybe msg the Op from that other post and ask them what they did. Not many options here, its really the finance company that decides.
