California Proposes upping EV Rebate (CVRP) from $2500 to $10k

Any chance that applies to college and university public employees?

nevermind, I wouldn’t qualify, the rebate applies only to schools in disadvantaged communities

Going by recent reports that Tesla delivered 9 Model 3 to employees this month, the “soon-to-be-general-public-owners” of Model 3 won’t have to worry about the dilemma of 10k California CVRP for a long long time …

Of course, production volume ramp-up could always start next month but that’s what they said last month and that’s what Tesla might say next month too and then the next and the next and …

Hopefully, Tesla has their problems under control…

I was out to lunch today and saw a Delorean driving around gull-wings up in traffic. I suppose the windows wouldn’t work and the Air conditioning had failed. Deloreans are the classic case of production problems causing the company to fail.

interesting. I follow a lot of Model 3 forums and haven’t heard anything like that. All the reports I’ve been seeing is that VIN #s 100+ have been spotted in the wild. Tesla delivered 30 model 3s in July and made another 20 for testing purposes. Musk said they expect to deliver 100 in August. Assuming all 50 of the July cars had VINs, then I expect VIN #150 should be out there in the next few days. Musk said production is supposed to ramp up exponentially from here. My delivery date is still estimated to be Dec 2017-Feb 2018 in the online reservation system so I feel good about it.

It is already approved in committees. If it is fully approved then it goes to Gov. Brown for veto. Gov. Brown has set a goal of 1.5 million zero-emission vehicles on California highways by 2025. Without this passing, he would miss that. It seems very likely to happen.
The funds would come from cap-and-trade auctions http://www.latimes.com/politics/essential/la-pol-ca-essential-politics-updates-california-cap-and-trade-1495656170-htmlstory.html

You can’t quick flip a car that you got rebates from. The state monitors the vehicle registration for 30 months. After 30 months, then you can do what you will.

From my understanding is you can get the rebate if you don’t purchase with the intention of selling the car. Not sure how they would prove that?

The delorean also failed because it was underpowered. It would have succeeded as a low volume semi-affordable super car. it didnt know who it was targeting. it made 130hp at the flywheel.
Doesn’t help when the founder is busted for drug trafficking either.

Everyone was expecting it to come with a flux capacitor :stuck_out_tongue:

not sure what that means. so you buy it and register non-op and put it in your museum? you buy or lease the car and your name is on the registration and they send you a check. that is the gist of it.
then, if you get rid of the car before the 30 month mark, it is at your own risk. maybe they catch people or maybe they dont. sometimes the gov just likes to scare us.

Yea, honestly not really sure. I guess if someone tries it, they can let us know. :stuck_out_tongue:

They let you know. I am speaking from experience. I had a Chevy Spark EV and sold it after 6 month. They CVRP contacted me about 6 months after that and asked for their money back.

They asked for a reason why I sold it and I guess my reason was good enough for them not to ask for the entire amount back, but did ask for the prorated portion back (24 months).

that is good to know. a prorated refund is much better than the entire amount. i could live with that on my wife’s cmax.

oh wow that sucks! Sorry to hear that. Well that definitely is the opposite of what I’ve been reading on other forums. Did you get to keep the refund for the federal tax credit?

Was your reason why you traded the Spark-EV that you told CVRP was that you could make money on the deal ?

Perhaps a better reason would be something like - My low-mobility spouse/father-in-law/grandmother had trouble getting in and out of the car. That’s why I had to trade the Spark-EV for a Hummer !

Or perhaps your reason could be - “My Spark-EV had trouble towing my Big-Block Engine Ski-Boat”

It was a lease so the tax credit went to the dealership. Not sure how it will affect me later on. I hope it doesn’t come back and bite me in the butt.

LOL, I wish it was all those reasons you mentioned. I just told them that I didn’t do enough research and that the range didn’t suit my commute (90 mi/day).

With that experience, I was able to understand how important it is to have a high speed charging network. And longer range.

Wonder what will happen to us who bought after the June 30 freeze and still waiting for our $2500 back. Got note my app is Approved but since funds ran out and not sure of we will get our $2500. Would be great if bill passes and we get 10K back instead of $2500 LOL!

Do it, do it now, shut down OIL companies and OIL Refineries, it’s been proven OIL Refineries “Conspired” to close down refineries in CA to jack up prices from limited supply. They jacked up fuel prices, and claimed it was “reformulation” for the new formula, then they intentionally defer refinery maintenance to cause fires and broken down refineries to restrict supply, each time they jacked up fuel prices. Oil Refineries conspired to buy out and shut down extra refineries to limit supplies and justify higher fuel prices. SHUT THEM DOWN, subsidize EV’s, Go Solar for charging and make it a closed loop, no reliance on OIL 4WAR, AND WAR 4OIL Paradigm. DO IT NOW Give me $10k to buy an EV please!!!
