Observations as of Day 2 with our 2025 Luxury 1 AWD.
We also have a 2024 Blazer EV 2LT (LYRIQ is the replacement) and a 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S.
Note that I don’t dislike the LYRIQ, especially for the price, it’s just that many of the negatives surprised me. It’s been two years since we drove one, until we picked this one up yesterday.
-
I’ve read over and over that the AWD LYRIQ has 515 hp. But it feels absolutely glacial compared to the 500 hp Jeep, and only feels marginally more spirited than the 288 hp Blazer.
-
The center screen is terrible compared to the other two. Its rounded design forces rectangular displays (like CarPlay and the backup camera) into a space that’s much too small. HUGE downgrade from the Blazer. OTOH, at least it has CarPlay because I use the horrific Apple Podcasts app.
-
Forgive the highlighting in the window sticker snippet below; that was for another post. The dealer installed interior accessories are really tragic. The cargo tray and floor liners look they were made for an F350 or to complement those industrial-strength iPad covers used on construction sites.
-
The cargo net may have been clipped into the wrong location, because it’s flush with the rear liftgate and therefore wouldn’t hold anything in place. The net is sort of folded in half the long way, so it looks perfect for carrying exactly one baseball bat inside. I originally thought we could keep all of our staplers folded up in there, but the openings in the mesh are much too large.
-
The doors are heavy (in a substantial, not a burdensome way), and the LYRIQ is much quieter and feels more solid than its Ultium cousin or the Jeep.
-
The interior finishes, knobs, buttons, etc., vary in quality from a bit better than good to sorta low rent. I don’t see the chrome joystick thingie that controls the vent direction lasting 24 months, but I suppose that isn’t something that gets adjusted very often. Sorta feels like the knob is stuck on the end of a toothpick.
-
My spouse and I are both on the lease, but I’m listed second so OnStar won’t speak to me to activate the service, and SiriusXM won’t let me add the radio to my existing, active profile.
-
Aside from branding there seems to be no difference between the myChevrolet app and the myCadillac app, which I expected.
-
When you unlock the car, the flush exterior door handles stick out in one direction and remain out until the car is locked or started (I think). It’s only a matter of time before I get stabbed in the ribs while my attention is divided.
-
Wireless charging location/design makes more sense than the other two reference vehicles.
-
The exterior design will never not look a little weird to me.
