Broker Experience - Attitude Problems?

I am curious what the feedback is with dealing with Brokers in the Marketplace? I am seeing a lot of posts referring to non-responses by the brokers. A few of them actually post and explain that they are busy and will get to everyone but a lot just ignore the feedback. Some are even just down right nasty in their own threads. I am dealing with one from this site that was so obnoxious and arrogant that I can’t for the life of me understand how they are successful on here. A tip for some brokers, if you want to get back some of your time back, try posting deals for more common lease terms like 36k - 12k. Don’t be made when someone asks you to run the numbers because a 7.5k/24 month with 10 MSD’s isn’t for them. That’s the game dealers play, it’s so easy to post a calculator with some common deal setups and that initial investment will probably clear away half of your unnecessary emails.

No Idea but NY doesn’t allow 10 MSDs (If your username is in NY)

We can just post the best available program at the time and don’t need to have people question why we’re doing so. If the best program is a 24 and you’re looking for a 36, be prepared to pay a significantly higher price. We cannot magically get you to the same payment on a different term.

That said, I’m happy to post our entire exchange here and let the community decide how I was “obnoxious” or “arrogant”.

There’s a reason I haven’t posted a volvo sheet in 2 months. Literally every xc90 or xc40 gas that I have available to me, across 4 dealers, is going to repeats from 3 years ago - people who have gone through the process and are grateful to get a deal in this market. The only cars I post are electrics and recharges. I’m completely overwhelmed and am grateful to be so. Admittedly, I let inquiries slip through the cracks, and don’t always provide lengthy answers, but to call me obnoxious or arrogant, especially when you reached out after business hours, is actually super rude.

It also sounds to me like you’re expecting a white glove dealership experience for a wholesale price. Unlike a dealership, we don’t make $5-7k / car, so we have to keep the line moving. My company also coordinates all deal related aspects even after locking in a deal, including structuring, insurance, and often, delivery. We do not pass our clients off to a dealer - we’re not a lead generation service for our dealers. The majority of broker reviews you see on this forum are really reviews for their dealers, who did the work for them.

that’s not accurate.

IMO brokers often have like a dozen sales they’re trying to close at any given moment since their margins are so low and their need for volume is so high.

And it’s not like they have some fancy CRM helping them look through all correspondence and get access to all data like some Hollywood movie.

Just cut set your expectations accordingly that you’re not dealing with a highly curated and overpriced sales channel when you go through a broker. But if you don’t like your broker go find another broker.

Had a great experience with one. But there are many and it’s simply a business transaction so if someone doesn’t offer a service that makes you happy, find another one who will .

If companies were shut down based on attitude, then many banks, dealerships, and cable companies would have been shut a long time ago.

In a free market economy, people vote with their wallets and there’s no nanny state to micromanage every single correspondence.

Leave a review of your interactions and move on.

I’ve always had great service from brokers on LH. Even the ones that I’ve never used provide very helpful information to the community. They post the terms for the best deals. I never go over 7.5k/yr, but I get 10k/yr just so I don’t have anxiety. I also want a new car every two years, not three. Any broker can give you a quote for the term that you want, so just ask, but don’t expect it to be as good as the ones that are posted.

As far as posting detailed numbers, some post them, and others don’t. They worked hard to get those pre-negotiated deals. The last thing they need is for someone to take those numbers to cross-shop multiple dealers. I’ve been guilty of it, but only because there weren’t any brokers doing Acura for SoCal.

I’ve had positive experiences with brokers here. That might be partly because I do my own research prior to contacting them and offer them my own calculator to see if it is accurate or not. I can understand them not responding to tedious questions which are often answered a few posts up.

That said, my general opinion is that when a broker charges a fee to the customer, they should feel the need to earn that fee from the customer. The two brokers I have worked with from this forum have done that and I had zero complaints. But yes, I definitely understand where you are coming from. There is an air of entitlement emanating from a few marketplace threads. I would just avoid them if it’s not for you.

Most brokers are fairly good and I’ve used a few myself. Many do indeed don’t bother replying, which is perfectly fine as it’s really no different than shopping actual dealers themselves. Time is money for most of us and if they don’t have the time to respond well, that’s a lead lost for them. Some of the brokers here do have short fuses and seeing that you have been here awhile, why would you willingly want to work with someone that is known to have an attitude? Did you think they were just trolling or did you want to experience the trolling personally? Funny enough, just reading your title gave me 90% confidence I knew exactly who you were talking about.

I don’t get what the issue is? If you’re gonna pay someone, and you don’t like their service, then move on.There probably is someone else in the marketplace who would be willing to take your money…

Aronchi, I am working with multiple brokers and I have no idea why you are making the assumption that I was referring to you. You are obviously defensive for some unknown reason. I welcome you posting our “after hour” exchange (6:15 pm). It’s hard to gauge if someone is trying to be humorous ( You must by 3 to get the deal) through text text our email so I reserve judgement on that but speaking to a broker on the phone that just couldn’t be bothered triggered me to see what type of experiences others are having.

Calculators are adjustable, so feel free to adjust them?

I’m positive you were referring to me. All of the other NE region brokers put on the fake schmoozy salesperson spiel. I don’t - my clients know exactly what they want and they value a no-bullshit approach.

Curious who you spoke with on the phone though.

Look, I think there’s a mismatch of expectations here. Some brokers are more willing to walk you through than others. That being said, don’t be a jerk and ask for test drives, numbers on 10 different cars and other wasting people’s time stuff. Most brokers here will be a little bit more curt and a little less BS than most dealer salespeople. You come to them for the numbers not the BS. They’re volume so they have to get in and out
