This lines up with the “here’s a broker deal that i don’t want to pay a broker fee for so please match it” situation. Except they matched it with the broker fee already in it.
There is no reason brokers should ever be posting calculators. This community does not deserve it.
What’s wrong with a person trying to get a better deal to avoid paying broker fees? Did he waste your time by getting multiple quotes? Did he cut you off after finding out who your dealer was? If replicating a broker deal is as easy as walking up to a dealer and asking them to match it then I don’t see a problem
It’s a free market. But just as a user discussed their self interest, it is also in our self interest and the community’s self interest not to post calculator links any longer.
I see no issue with users generating their own calculator link through research and putting in a little effort.
Go become a broker so you can understand both perspectives. You’ll hear the stories of users trying to force dealers to honor LH quotes. Some of them don’t even have the decency to be respectful. I don’t see the value in one person getting a deal but then affecting 10 others down the road bc some dealers don’t want to play ball anymore. Point is, there’s other reasons as well.
Maybe you think it’s funny or cute, but this is my livelihood. I do this for a living. I don’t appreciate someone taking my job and cheapening it or taking something i do as a courtesy (i.e. Posting a deal link) and using it to skate my profit. If it wasn’t for some of the bottomfeeders on this forum, i would never post a deal link. Plenty of west coast brokers don’t, and it seems they’re doing fine.
I don’t see how it really matters if broker posts links or not.
Plenty of users posting deals and we have an entire signed section of the site.
Brokers not posting links won’t stop people taking data from LH and putting it in front of dealers.

Ive pulled up the actual ones and showed them and then the story changes to “oh thats not what was sent thats just what I want”

The community self interest isn’t to feed brokers. It started as a community to educate everyone and share deals.
Ah solution to people poaching your deals, stop using one of the best features of LH that helps consumers understand pricing.
I get that Brokers help pay the bills here but this goes against the whole idea of keeping the whole process transparent.
I know right? Our dumbasses spend 2-3 days generating transparent spreadsheets and individual calc links only to be shitted on. No wonder I’m driving a beat up Toyota. Looks like transparency only gets you fucked.
