I have the one from Costco.
With the 45e I didnt find it worth upgrading our charger. I used the included one and it does take most of the night to charge but its ready to go in the AM. I suppose if you are doing multiple trips a day that exceed its capacity it would be worthwhile but I would see what you think after 1-2 months of ownership.
Unless you need to do multiple 30-mile all electric trips throughout the day, overnight charging on L1/120v is very workable.
Did that for 4 years with our Pacifica PHEV and am still doing it now with a MY and a Leaf for the last year or so.
Range and L2 charging is not that large a barrier to go to PHEV/EVs.
I had a Leaf and i3 on a 110, but this x545e charges SLOWWWWWWWWW on a 110 at 10A.
How long does it take for you to charge? it says over 24 hours for full charge if I’m on empty…
24 hour is about right, at least that’s my experience, if it’s close to empty there is no way it will be fully charged in a 12 hour span on a 110.
That’s not my experience 110V at 10A. Maybe bimmerpost will give more insight.
Should take 5hrs on a 240/16A or 6.5hrs if you do the EU battery unlock.
My Pacifica was slower at L1 than my Tesla… but it was more like 12-16 hours for full charge… not 24… that would make a case for L2.
I just checked. For full charge it has been taking 18 hours at 10A.
Can some one explain how some one can get 7500 federal rebate and 100% tax deduction. I thought you cant get both. I have an S corp i can take 100% tax deduction buying through that how do i avail 7500 federal tax deduction?
I don’t think that you can get both, I believe you have to reduce the depriciable basis by the amount of the credit
You should ask your CPA.
Mine told me if I buy a 179 Eligible EV/PHEV, I need enough tax liability for both (especially if you aren’t doing straight-line depreciation), and the 179/Accelerated Depreciation is based on MSRP - Fed Credit (the bonus depreciation backs out the rebate before being calculated).
Has anybody pivoted to the X5 40i to see what kind of discounts can be had? At a certain discount, perhaps this doesn’t look too much worse than the 45e which nobody has in stock.
depending on your area you can probably get between zero and 9%. Last weekend i could have probably got maybe 10% but I got greedy and asked for more. We are in a bear market at the end of the day.
I may start pinging dealers on these given I can’t wait two months for a 45e. Had one dealer offer $2K under MSRP which isn’t nearly enough.
Biggest issue with the sec 179 deduction is when you sell, you will have to recapture the gain on the sale. So unless you sell and buy another sec 179 eligible vehicle, you will wind up with that big gain… or you’re locked into buying big heavy vehicles for the rest of eternity. No more leasing, no more crossovers, no mid-life crisis porsche boxster…
If anyone knows a dealer in New York/ New Jersey with ANY discount on 2023 Xe build, please let me know!, don’t know if any present ol codes are valid for this vehicle either
Probably claim the $7500 rebate on your personal taxes and the sec 179 on your 1120S. Because you will buy the car in your name, acting on behalf of the corporation which then capitalizes the asset on its balance sheet thus qualifying it for the sec 179 deduction. Not a cpa.
I literally had to tell on a sales rep to his manager recently because he refused to return my call to put a deposit on a car even after, just two weeks earlier, having given a deposit on another one to the same rep!
what car would be the Xe?
