BMW maintenance program for loaner car question

,

One of my friend leased BMW loaner car three days ago and purchased additional maintenance plan.
He said the dealership told him that the retired loaner cars are not eligible for free BMW maintenance program so he should buy the prepaid maintenance plan.

Is this true? Are loaner cars excluded from free 3/36000 maintenance program?

The only “free” maintenance is oil changes now basically. You have to pay to add brake pads and rotors. I have not heard of a loaner not being qualified for the program.

should’ve been included.

If you lease a BMW loaner, you have to pay for the maintenance to be refreshed if you want the free oil changes. The cost varies from dealer to dealer, and it’s typically negotiable. I believe @Sukiface got the dealer from $600 to $200.

What your friend likely purchased was Ultimate Care+, which, for $700, also covers brakes and some other stuff. It’s also transferable with the car, whereas the standard free maintenance isn’t.

I leased a loaner and just took the car in for 10k service and was not charged. Did not pay for any service package. They even gave me a loaner.

I leased a loaner in October 2019 and dealer told me scheduled maintenance is included. It better frickin be included seeing as that’s what the GSM told me over text message!

I have leased there loaners in the last 6 months. And, it’s included! A “refreshing cost” is nothing more than a dealer profit scam.

On my second BMW loaner lease…it is included! No different from leasing a brand new car…come on people!:grinning:

Thank you fellas. This post had me worried…

This is my second loaner lease. First one was include with no issues whatsoever. It seems the dealer can choose to transfer it or “let it expire” and put the onus on the owner to “refresh” or pay out of pocket for necessary service. Agreed it’s likely a way to improve profit, but I think there may be a bit more here on how the maintenance is transferred. Would love some insider input on this, though.

Ultimate Care+ sounds interesting. At $700 if it covers brakes it might make a 36mo lease worth it over a similarly priced 24mo lease.

Exactly, they charge whatever they want to “refresh” it, I paid $100 on mine

Adding data point: leased loaner '18 X2 a year ago, no charge for any maintenance she’s had done.

I know it does not include brake pads/rotors anymore.

A GM told me his cost was about 3-350 on the maintenance program. So it’s negotiable.

I am curious at what price is the prepaid maintenance worth it for a 36/10 lease? If it’s going to add 20+ bucks isn’t it better to do a 24 month lease and skip most of the maintenance items and even save on tires?

Not worth it unless you are a bad driver and ride you brakes all the time. Shouldn’t need brakes until at least 50k miles.

Thanks. How about the run flat tires? Are these likely to need replacing before 30K miles?

I’m not sure where you reside but I’m in Pittsburgh and you’d be lucky to get 25k miles out of them. I bought used OEM RF’s off eBay before my lease turn in.

Haha i know exactly what you mean. I’ve lived in Pittsburgh for several years and had to replace some tires. Never lived in another city with so many potholes.
