BMW i3's ARE BACK - $155+TAX for 24/10k with ONLY DRIVES - 0.31% DEAL & LH SCORE of 26.6! - SO CAL

Why do you care if you get a deal that you are happy with? I don’t. Everybody needs to make a living.

I dont - this is for dealer friends here who say they don’t make money

And they may not make much. Dealership does.

I was under the impression that Fleet and College aren’t stackable.

They are combinable.

I end up driving over 150 miles some days so need REX for sure. Which car has more cargo space seats folded? I need to do road shows and need it to fit a canopy. Carpool stickers would be the bonus.

For most of BMWs you get great deals towards the end of month, quarter or year. Most of us here are to get a great deal so @BMW_Dave should take it with a stride when people ask for more discounts.

I don’t get offended when someone asks for me to do a little better. But a little better and $2,700 better are two different animals. And when is someone making blanket statements that anyone can get that (without understanding that what was available 12 months ago is different than what is available today)…

This site does take a lot of time and I wouldn’t waste that time (the few minutes a day that I’m not in front of a customer) trying to make deals while still holding onto profit from buyers that are educated enough to be on this forum in the first place. Seems kinda silly.

Amazing deal! Should go quickly…

Fleet and college are stackable? Since when? (Not challenging, just genuinely surprised by the change.)

Yes, this is a surprise to me as well. I was always told that they weren’t (and the BMW Fleet fine print states that it can’t be combined with the College program).

I had a deal get done with both of these about a month ago and there are no new bulletins about it.

No comments on the deal, but just wanted to point out that BMWCCA members get another $500-1000 off the i3 (perhaps it can’t be combined with some of the above but it’s another option at least).
You have to be a CCA member for at least a year though.

Can an OL code event promo be used on this with Fleet?

No OL Code can’t be combined with Corp Fleet but it can be combined with everything else.

I went to a BMW driving event to get 1k towards purchase. Is that 1k stackable? Also would it just show up in the system because I never recieved any emails after the event.

Manish - some of the things you are saying are true but some are false.

How do dealers get a 30% Return on Equity. Its not on the sale of new cars. It typically comes from margins on trade-ins. Dealers typically get the trade-ins with a few thousand in margin potential, sometimes more, and then have them financed. They try to turn them in as little time as possible - so they basically are able to make a return on a short loan.

They also make margins on service - oil changes don’t make a lot, but when you need some major service done, or service reimbursed through warranty.

Yes dealerships also make money on the hold-backs, however it is often tough to meet these, and they every dollar across the board counts.

In reality, most dealerships have a tough time maintaining sales staff - its a tough environment, with a lot of pressure. The 30% return does not come easy, and does not come on new cars.

Your friend that makes software probably makes an 80% return. He should give it away for free or cheaper

If someone is able to make a profit, good for them, especially if its someone who has earned it. I’d rather see a salesperson make money vs. big companies. I know they would spend it on their family.

Return on Equity is calculated as follow -

You have 100$ and you borrow 900$ and thus have 1000$ to do business. You make a profit of 230$ and pay 200$ as interest cost , you still make 30$. Your ROE is 30% . You made 30$ on 100$ you had.

Yes dealerships are having tough time as you said and i am well aware- the larger ones are killing smallers (Darwin Theory) and manufacturers are fueling it basis step plans.

Van Tuyl Group was acquired by Buffet and it has ROE of upwards 30% .

I’m aware of how ROE is calculated - if you are highly leveraged/debt financed it juices your ROE significantly. I was sharing with you how dealerships make money and its largely based off of returns on used cars and service - not a ton on the sale of new cars. At least that is my understanding.

However, I’m very risk averse investor and think that we’re going to have a correction in the Auto Market - and I’m not sure who is going to win or lose. With all of the new cars recently sold and leases at all time highs, I think the market will get flooded with used (esp. increased sub prime loans), and used car prices will go down because supply will be so high (hurting the sale of new), and OEMs will have to significantly discount new to make it advantageous to buy. If we have just one hiccup in the market I think it will be tough. Its tough to tell though - one thing for sure - it will be a lot more competitive for dealers and perhaps customers will get great pricing.

The other thing about Car Dealerships - what’s their competitive advantage? At the end of the day its their service (how likely people are to recommend), scale (ability to drive down margins but make up in qty), marketing capability (ability to target and advertise cars better than others), or sourcing (ability to get/assess high quality used cars at great prices). Overall I’ve been impressed how Carmax has done this in the used car market, but I think its hard to manage the scale.

Dave is posting transparent, reasonable deals, which is good enough for this forum. He isn’t claiming to have the lowest price in America. Hijacking his thread without even a completed deal is a bit uncalled for. Dave, please keep posting. Most of us can process the information and choose our path and view your offers as an additional data point.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t that 120%? That seems like woke shady car dealership math to me.

As a great man once said… “60% of the time, it works every time”
