Just curious if you reached out to the GM. Cant imagine if you threaten a big enough stink they won’t honor original deal. Also if broker severed relationship feel free to go as stinky as you like lol
Could technically be worth the call and email…"FYI, based on this email stating X, Y, Z, this technically solidifies the contractual agreement. I’m happy to come pick the vehicle up today at the agreed upon price or can also swing by with my attorney to discuss’…then again, I don’t care enough over this stuff so I’d write them off, crack a beer, then roast them on a review site.
The GM of Princeton BMW reached out to me, salesperson did not even though I asked him to call me back. Says he has a dozen more call like this that he hates to make.
Princeton was always horrible that’s why I never leased from them. Their sales staff and sales mgr have always been difficult to deal with in the past. That and their high doc fee of $699. Gtfoh.
Didn’t you have a sale order for your build anyway? Wouldn’t that have had the agreed to sales price?
“I’m sure it’s just as tough telling your boss we have a contract to sell me this car at that price. When can I come sign for the deal we agreed to when you didn’t have the car and took me out of the market with a custom order?”
It is slightly concerning that dealers have gone from 11-12% off in-stock cars and ~ 10% off custom orders, which is business as usual, to MSRP or an insignificant discount. I’m in the market and am grateful to be able to get pricing that was under invoice pending an allocation. Kind of ironic since I wanted to make it easy this time, but production shortages were incredibly unforeseen. It seemed like the car industry was booming post-COVID.
For them to go back on a sold order they’d have to have a large enough demand for that vehicle that they think they can turn it over quickly at a lower discount. I don’t imagine them truly losing money if they went ahead with the deal unless they’re concerned about not meeting volume targets for the year.
Still, pulling an order from a customer and asking for more money is a bad business practice that could get them 1-star reviews online. These dealerships value their reputation, I don’t see that being worth $3,000.
This what I got from the dealer confirming receipt of my insurance for loyalty and Penfed discount that I provided to them by email after running credit checks to submit the order.
The market is significantly up for the i8. It’s difficult to find one used for <$80k. If they continued depreciating I would have considered one at ~$40k (the market was at around $45-$50k for a 2015 i8 two years ago if I remember correctly), but BMW discontinuing it has really increased demand.
That’s terrible, I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s definitely not the broker’s fault, but it is 100% the dealer’s fault. I suppose because you haven’t actually signed a lease agreement yet, they can do whatever they want. It would go the same way if the car arrived and you just decided you didn’t want the car anymore. The dealer wouldn’t have any recourse and you could just walk away. It’s just a very crappy move on their part in terms of customer service, reputation, etc. and they should probably think about big picture ramifications once the market goes back to normal. Good luck to you!
What kind of car did you order? This market won’t stay like this forever and we’re likely to be back to business as usual. If you don’t need the car now I’d walk and buy next year. Isn’t the 3-series due for LCI for the 2023 MY (next year this time)
You have a right to be upset. Just like the dealer would.be upset if you haggled for more discounts this late in the game. This was very poor form to do to essentially shake you down.for more money.
Just remember keep a cool Head when speaking to them and tell them how displeased you are. You have a right to fight for the agreed upon price. You’re well within your right to leave negative reviews and complain to bmwna about your poor experience with that dealer.
Do you still have the option of taking delivery of YOUR car at a 6% discount instead of a 9.5% discount?
During normal times an incident like this would be reason enough to flip the middle finger to the original dealer and reorder from a different dealer, but these are not normal times. M340is with Harman Kardon sound and your other options aren’t exactly plentiful.
If the broker has already refunded his/her fee, that helps bridge the gap. Maybe you can get the dealer to waive some fees or at least throw in some extras to cushion some more of the blow.
Once you drive off the lot with YOUR car, you can add a big “SUCKS” sticker to the license plate frame after the dealer name to make yourself feel better…
