BMW Current Design Landfill

It seems like a sedan version of an XM.

I understand one may inject Ozempic anywhere, but the :peach: was the one place it didn’t need to lose weight

XM may have been proof of concept for the Hybrid M platform and working out the kinks with a fairly low volume model.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the wagons being brought back stateside. :slightly_smiling_face:

So 20% off a couple months after launch?

What a complete whale. 1,000lbs heavier than F90. Power to weight ratio is actual worse than outgoing M5.

Doubtful if it’s kept low in production.

You might see the $7,500 pass through on a lease but unlikely the residual will be any better than the i5 variants combined with the base M rate of .00267

It’ll be an ugly lease, long story short.

That $7500 benefit shouldn’t be available to PHEVs with hideous fuel economy once the plug in power runs out. The window stickers for things like the XM or the S580e are outrageous.

So the new trend for BMW is…

Ugly grilles
Ugly black cladding in random spots to distract from the ugly grilles
Ugly wheels
Ugly interior design
Ugly power to weight ratios
Ugly leases

But BMW is going to sell so many of these goddamn things… their buyers don’t seem to care about any of this stuff haha

But at the end of the day? Still faster and cheaper than its competitors.

The sad part about this super-expensive car is that it’s a cost-cutting measure to use black rocker panels, black mirror caps, black wheel arches, and black front/rear lower fascias. The less body-color painted area on a car means less cost to the manufacturer. At least Ford had the wherewithal to make the wheel arches body color on the GT MME.

Jason Cammisa talks about this in his MME video.

Black cladding and cheapness is usually a cheat-device that automakers use on lower trims to give the appearance of something looking more sporty on the upper trims. That’s why AMG Line and MSport packages make bits body color. But it’s just cheap and lame to have the XM look dumpy with the black.

The car is ugly enough, but it also looks ghetto/cheap because of BMW’s decision around the obvious cost cutting on a car that shouldn’t require cost cutting in this way.

Saw some reviews on XM, there’s like no reason anyone should ever this over a x7 m60 unless they want a plugin hybrid. Heck for this msrp you can get a x7 alpina.

I mean, it doesn’t have buck teeth. That should be the Lucid moto “we dont have anything crazy going on up front”… But what are these guys thinking? So much else going on here. @holeydonut we need some analysis of this.

Yeah, IMO that’s the worst configuration of the Lucid Air. It’s like they tried to ape the Maybach Mercedes or the Edition One EQS. But with a bear. Not a good pair of cars to emulate hahah

I think the general design of the Air is pretty good.

this was my first attempt

more respectable.

Look it’s a Nissan Quest EV! Less offensive, but yeah kinda weak. EVs suck man. ICE is so cool.
