BMW 3rd year maintenance for loaner lease

I was told that my 3rd year maintenance is not covered because the 3year maintenance program has been expired.

Lease is expiring in a few weeks, and the orange warning indications appeared in the iDrive that says the vehicle needs “vehicle check” and “engine oil change” in 1800 miles.

I will be driving less than 800 miles by the lease end.

Is BMW going to charge me for the orange warning lights? I heard that unless it’s red warning lights, they don’t charge?

Anyone with past experiences, please share
Thank you!

And now we’re going to have 1,000 posts of uninvolved people arguing whether the OP should spend the $70 on an oil change.

I was told by a service advisor that it will be non-negotiable 550 for oil, filter and the vehicle check.

Not sure where you are coming from but certainly not doing this for 70 lol

You don’t have to go to bmw for an oil change

Thank you for the info.

BMW wouldn’t be able to track that I didn’t get the oil change done by them?

What about the vehicle check thing? Can local mechanics also get rid of that?

I just don’t want any bills after I turn the vehicle in…

Hell, you can tell them that you got the oil change done somewhere else. There’s no requirement to get the service done through the dealer.

Any bmw mechanic can take care of everything you need.

Probably around $100-150 for a good independent shop to do the work.

An independent will be able to address and reset the light, just like any other mechanic. You are allowed to use whomever you wish to keep your car maintained. You do not have to use the dealer.

Thank you everyone for important and helpful pieces of advice.

This post got me worried…

This is my second BMW lease but with my first one being 24month lease, I didn’t have to go through this.

Thank you again!

OP needs to get this done prior to turning the car in or there will be a very expensive lease end statement arriving. i have seen this all the time with lease end loaners.

Tell them to only do the oil change. When they did just the oil change, they also reset my vehicle check light, got away without paying for that. If they don’t reset it, you can just get the vehicle check done separately, I think it’s like $150…they charge a lot of money if you turn it in with service lights still on.
