Best new car inventory search website?

I have used them all. CarGurus; Edmunds; Cars.com; Autotrader; CarEdge I like because it shows how long units have been on the lot. Cargurus does also but you have to actually click on the unit to see that info. Which one is best?

I’ve also tried all (or almost all) of them out there. Visor.vin is my favorite by far.

Amazing info and filter options. They have a free version and a pay version. The pay version offers additional info like carfax and window sticker when available. I sprung for the pay version while I look for my next car. Absolutely no regrets.

After re-reading my post I realize it reads like an ad but I’m just a happy customer. No affiliations or vested interest.

Moderators can we do a poll here? We all use these sites daily including going straight to the manufacturer websites to search inventory. It would be nice to just have one main site to use.

visor.vin is by far my favorite. Autotempest after that. Then Cargurus

I liked caredge but i guess that’s because i didn’t know about other outings. After looking at visor vin, i can see it’s cheaper and better.

Yeah, TIL about visor.vin and wow. How have I never used this before. My previous favorites were AutoTempest for used and Cars.com/manufacturer sites for new.

Is Truecar any good? I used to use it to get some pre-negotiated pricing to benchmark deals, but it doesn’t seem to be as useful nowadays.

This site would be a lot better for benchmarking deals.

The idea behind truecar is fine, but there’s zero transparency with their price bench marks in terms of what’s included in those transaction prices. (E.g. lease or buy, how many incentives were baked in, etc )

Of course, I haven’t opened up truecar ever since I started using LH

I like auto trader.

I just checked out visor.vin based on this thread … but noticed it’s not pulling in inventory from several large dealerships.

It’s missing pricing and data from like 2 Cadillac dealerships near me.

But the data is nice, cool to see price history on the cars.

I haven’t tried visor.vin or autotempest. I will need to do that and report back. I found on cargurus that there were some dealerships missing from my search. That sh!t is frustrating as all get out!

Anyone else having problems with CarGurus no longer reliably sending notifications re price drops or sales of saved cars?

Just signed up today. Love how you can search actual options packages . Unlike cars and cargurus

Damn, everyones here is giving away the secret that is Visor

You forgot Porsche.com CPO search. I heard it’s full of 90% resid 911’s.

This extra bit of data doesn’t really help you. It’s all just noise. Chances are they have old inventory because they don’t really negotiate.

Know your target and make knowledgeable offers regardless of all this noise.

Knowledge is power. So if you arm yourself with knowledge about how many days the unit has been on their lot you have somewhat of an upper hand to make that introductory offer.

Yes… but sometimes all it tells you how much that dealer loves to hold bags.

Your offer is the same regardless. And noise isn’t knowledge. Noise is what’s scrubbed out and ignored.

Say you’re looking for a needle in a barn. You can deploy 25 metal detectors on drones or you can sit there wondering which haystack looks a little older than the others.

You’ve tried literally everything except LH’s proven strategy. It’s time to admit that reinventing the wheel is not working for you.

Older haystacks may have higher chances of containing a needle?
