Best 8 passenger Luxury SUV deal

,

I currently drive an x7 and love it. Unfortunately, it’s too small as my family is growing. I’m going to need a full 8 seater SUV, which means either the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, Infiniti QX80, Land Rover Defender 130, or the Jeep Grand Wagoneer (tell me if I’m missing something). Do any of these lease well? I saw some pretty nice offers on the QX80 and I know they have had trouble selling—so maybe that’s the play? Has anyone seen anything good on these? I still have some time to decide. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I just looked at these a few months ago. Unfortunately, none of them lease well at all.

We sort of focused in on the navigator. Went to a couple different dealers, all of them commented on how many they had sitting on the lot but yet the rebates and lease deals were shit. So apparently they’re not selling, but they also don’t seem that interested in selling them either.

But to answer your question, no, none of the lease deals were appealing we ended up purchasing.

Few other thoughts -

Navigator - we settled on this because it was the best value in my opinion. It’s very luxurious inside. The infotainment system is garbage. Rides well. I’m a car person, so I don’t think any of them drive particularly well, but you’re driving a gigantic luxury barge… Just took it on a trip with six people, skis, bags… And it grew on me a little bit. It was well fit for that purpose. Day to day around town at 16 miles per gallon is painful.

Escalade - drove nice. I thought the interior was too plasticky. Typical GM parts bin. I like the exterior styling. Dealers are very reticent to negotiate on these like at all…

QX80 - didn’t drive these, but I like what I’ve seen on the new model in the media and in their ads. Some cool features. I always thought Infinity was a good value proposition, but if I recall the prices on these were in the same territory as the navigator and the Escalade which in my opinion are better quality cars.

Land Rover - I love the styling on these, and I know several people that own them. They seem happy with them. That said, when I drove it, I was turned off by the interior. It basically couldn’t decide if it wanted to be luxury or if it wanted to be utilitarian. Also, there’s that known Land Rover reliability…

Jeep - so I might be one of the weird ones that finds the styling on these nice. I actually had one as a rental a few months back and I liked it that was more of a base model. That said, in my opinion Jeep drastically overpriced these. And by all reports their quality is shit. I think this would be a really compelling car at 60 to 70,000, undercutting the big boys and carving out a place in the market. But apparently stalantis is stupid and greedy so here we are…

I’ve heard there are some massive discounts being offered on these. I think you can make a compelling case with a big discount and some shrewed negotiation.

I don’t think you’re missing anything else. Once you go this big it’s not a wide market. I actually loved the X7 and we negotiated on one for a bit until my wife decided that her new criteria was three rows with enough cargo space to carry things simultaneously. When you’re using the third row, there’s just not much room left in the X7 unfortunately. We previously had an X5 40e and my wife and I both loved that car.

Good luck, feel free to reach out if you have other questions.

I would take wagoneer off that list. Always will be in the shop and most likely dealer won’t have comparable loaner to give you. UNLESS you can get a GW for under $900 then it’s worth it

I would get GM product, not lease worth but some nice discounts

Qx80 for sure

QX80 is the only potential “deal” on that list. I know the MSRP is up there but based on recent marketplace deals, could lease fairly well.

Any tax credits in Texas?

I don’t know for sure about that right now. I think there might be, based on an advertised lease “special” I saw at the dealer where I got mine. Based on the numbers and how the ad is phrased I think there might be.

Full size doesn’t lease well

The 2024 QX80 is cheaper than the other brands and has a reliable V8 if you plan on keeping it for a while. The same goes with the 2024 Armada; the Platinum is only $60K

Saw the 2025 QX80 Autograph on the Florida Turnpike looks great but the price is in Escalade territory

I heard bad things about Grand Wagoneer even though they are at every single resort/timeshare parking lot in Orlando, Florida

Youtubers are saying the 2025 Armada is better than the Lexus LX600 for quality and comfort which is surprising.

Even though the QX80 MSRP is in Escalade territory, the lease is much cheaper than an Escalade.

The problem is, nobody wants these so the depreciation will be brutal.

For a car to keep a while you’ll have to go older like a 200-series LC/LX which will have 0 depreciation if bought right and without serious mileage added. Future appreciation potential too.

Otherwise wait a bit as 2025 QX80 is basically DOA and deals will inevitably have to get better.

Deals are already sub $700 all in on the QX80, its compelling for sure but the trunk is a little on the small side. For some of the other options you’re better off purchasing…

QX80 will be the cheapest lease and the least problematic…no brainer

I’m pretty sure Infiniti does pass on tax credits in TX, at least that was my experience early last yr.

I can’t recall the last ICE SUV that was as DOA as the new QX80. Seems like there were literally just a handful of early adopters, sales immediately went to zero, and fire sales began immediately thereafter.

Not knocking anyone who can find value in it, just saying anyone with the luxury of time could benefit from waiting. They’re not disappearing any time soon.

It appears there are

Not a lot of people willing to put their hard earned money on a brand that can declare bankruptcy within the next 6 months…

I wonder what would happen to leases if Nissan finally goes under…
