No stretch. Go build one.
Besides, even $42,000 for a $14,000 vehicle is obscene.

Am I missing any important options here
Hybrid/prime are obviously more expensive/closer to 50k.
I of course agree with this statement.
Those are RAV4s, arenāt they?
And people are waiting in line to pay ADMs on those.
As noted I was thinking about gas only models since those are the bigger sellers.
But yes, a hybrid RAV-4 is almost 50k and also a terrible value. Hello XC60 recharge
As for ADMs - .
After a week in this clunker, my back is saying $14k is being generous
Letās be clear that thereās a hybrid (not plug-in) and then thereās a PHEV.
$50k is a loaded PHEV. Nets to 43 ish after federal tax credit. The hybrid tops out at around 39k.
Youād be hard pressed to beat the TCO of a base Prime, which is like 41k before the credit and 34 ish after.
Trism was the one really banging the 50k drum. My initial point was a top of the line gas engine model is only $42k - about the same as as top of the line hybrid. Iāll admit I missed the lack of a notable price premium for hybrid versus regular. Either way, I donāt think those are compelling options at that price point.
The base models of the RAV-4 family are more compelling. I Agree that a base Prime at MSRP is a good value.
Surely this is fake lol.
Not sure. I saw some guy on twitter claiming that he was the one who got this quote.
Oh god when I fueled the S60 for the first time coming from a Nissan Altima, I was like - wait I only have to push the cap!
Onky 42k for a rav4. Do we not realize how ridiculous that sounds? Plus tax tags feesā¦
So basically 75% of an average American households pretax income.
None of this is sustainable.
I would be willing to pay a premium for a special periodic Leasehackr feature where @trism just craps all over a random car.
It can be pinned monthly post! @trism Takes on Trash or T3!!!
(edit: or Trismās Takes on Trash)
If he pubbed on Substack, Iād sub!
Honestly I care little about about RRās unreliability - perceived or real. I am determined to get the latest version in the next few years or so. The thing is gorgeous.
Okay, I donāt even know what means, but I think you also like the idea.
And most customers prob lease, I imagine.
I consider myself relatively indiff to YOLO, but I did a test drive in an Evoque at the LA Auto Show a few yrs ago, and you do totally feel like a rock star driving one.
I had an evoque for a couple years. It was great.
Off topic (but perhaps a good match for a thread about how stinky the RAV4 might be): what did you like best about the Evoque?
My only complaint from the short ride (aside from the climate control dials malfunctioning!) was that the ride seemed awfully hard. But maybe the tires were over-inflatedā¦
Ride on mine was fantastic, even with the big 20s, but i did have the dynamic package with the magnetic suspension.
