Attempting Dodge Hornet Hack

I’ve been attempting to hack a 2024 Dodge Hornet R/T EAWD. These are the numbers I’ve been using:

MSRP $47,715
MF .00204
Residual 61%
Incentives: Northeast Lease Cash $4500
Federal EV Credit $6500
Dodge TDM $1000
First Responder $500

I’m looking for a 24/10 lease with a 16% discount off of MSRP. I figured 16% was reasonable as this is the slowest selling car in America and I’ve been targeting cars that have been on the lot for 200-300 days.

This would put me at $1094 DAS and $103 month

I called about 8 dealers today (around Monmouth County, NJ) and haven’t come anywhere close. They confirmed my numbers are correct, but the best I was offered was 7% off which came to $325 month.

Am I wasting my time with this? Is the 16% to aggressive? Nobody wants a Dodge Hornet but I figured if I could get a good deal it would be a great first car for my daughter.

Thanks for any input.

What have the brokers here been offering for discounts on these?

Haven’t really seen much activity with the Hornet. There was one post but it was out in Washington State I believe.

There are others in the north east.

Deals were posted two days ago.

I’m in Monmouth myself- tried- the dealers won’t even sniff this locally

I tried a couple of dealers in PA just over the border. I usually have better luck there, but they were actually worse this time.

I guess they’ll just continue to not be sold and make the worse sold car in this era

We got End of may deal . 24/5k . $330/m with $600 due at signing. Westchester, NY area dealer. $45k unit. It was so hard.

Have been trying to do same up in MA for my daughter to take back to college. Some brokers offering 12-13% discount plus 1.5% if you have Affiliate on top of rebates but they won’t do a deal if car is registered in MA. Dealers up here scoff at that even with 250+ units sitting 200+ days on lot within 50 miles. Best I could do was 6% off with Affiliate and still coming out 8-10K for a one pay on a 46K 24/12 lease. I thought June numbers would improve but they mirror May. Dodge dealers like seeing inventory I guess. I have until August so will keep looking.

I don’t understand why the dealers are holding onto these things. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something.

Maybe its time for another Ariya.

These FCA dealers are trying to tell you something, they suck and don’t want your business. Just snag another Ariya.

im in michigan, and im in the same boat as you. the lowest anyone around me came is 399 a month 0 DAS. meanwhile they have almost 100 on the lot that are not moving. I think @joeblogs is right on this one.

Got one in April in MA for about $230 effective. Key is a low MSRP PHEV

Not a big spread between invoice and sticker but these dealers have to take the hit eventually.

Just keep hammering at it. 8 is too little. It took me 27 dealers before I signed my last deal. Remember, you just need to find that one that agrees.

Finding the one dealer that will do it at end of month won’t be easy, and you may have to travel, but they are likely out there. Email the GM direct. If they deny first pass be polite and say you will reach back out last week of the month. Or that they can email you if they need a unit.

This strategy netted me a Volvo loaner at 20% off before rebates in TX oct 23, a qx60 at 13% off before rebates in MO during April and a lyriq at 13% off before rebates now in June - can’t say where cuz it’s not delivered yet. I started by asking for the best discounts offered by brokers here. Then they just started beating each other once you find one and share the deal sheet.

This. All day.

I was in a CDJR dealership today and literally every single thing down to the bathroom was simply awful.

It is possible (or close to possible).

Yep. I don’t mind spending the time and making the calls, but I wasn’t even getting close, lots of $400’s. Tomorrow I’ll try some dealers in MD.

I’ve also tried several dealers with no luck. Their offers don’t come remotely close. The last one was like $700/mo. A Dodge. Hornet. ?!? I wouldn’t mind getting one as a cheap beater, but c’mon. :joy:

I would target 40-50 dealers depending how far willing to travel and how much your time is worth to get the deal. It will consume days but you have to love the chase. I typically stay east of Rockies since the travel or shipping costs start to outweigh savings.
