Verizon always late to the party what’s new.
Single point of failure is a great way to go, I want to carry one device around and nothing else, that way when it breaks, I’m completely screwed. Sounds like a great plan. Technology never falls, always works.
Key fobs are the best because how else will the waiter or waitress know I drive a BMW if I can’t put my fob on the table with my house keys strategically moved to the side.
Obviously with a BMW lock screen on your iphone
You just lost all credibility there…
My sweet summer child. Your iPhone goes face down so they can see you spent the money on the 11 Pro with 3 camera lenses.
Are Lexus keys still the same as Toyota. Must have logo side facing up lol
Not sure about Lexus/Toyota, but a Lamborghini Gallardo key is the same as an Volkswagen Jetta key.
I was thinking the same until I realized I don’t have my wallet with me at the cashier one day.
No say you are on a world cruise off the coast of Thailand. The benefit is that you can start your car back in your garage every week or two. And all while sipping umbrella drinks in the Calypso bar overlooking the blue ocean. Wouldn’t want your engine or battery to go flat.
Trickle charger
I don’t know of many cars that lose juice after a single week or 2 of not driving.
I believe the “big” news is that it works alongside your existing keys on cars with ignition immobilizers and can substitute for them (drive sans key). It was the smallest news Apple had today.
I haven’t opened a door with a key in 3+ years.
I haven’t carried my wallet since 2013: I use a 3 credit card phone case: ID + 1 business/personal credit card. ApplePay lets me make card choices at checkout to maximize rewards without carrying them (all the other cards are locked up at home).
Penetration is not nearly as high as those companies would like (Ring was doing well for a minute before some backlash). I have a couple friends with the August lock. I use a different brand. I could do an hour on the incompatibilities between smart home tech (spoiler: they all suck).
The big Apple news today: driving one of the single most expensive costs (Intel) out of the computer ecosystem, new developer tools and conversion kits to support that migration.
In late 80’s when cell phones were super big and expensive, I remembered in some Asian countries they always ‘stand up’ on the dining table.
Thanks for the tip. I’ve been looking for a way besides Apple Pay to lose my ability to buy things if my phone is lost or stolen.
I really want a smart lock, any recommendation for what suck the least? I’m currently in the Google/Nest ecosystem. It’s the last thing I need to go mostly keyless (except for my volvo key, I plan to sew a bracelet or watch band for the sport key).
I have iPhone 11 pro works wonderfully for apple pay, granted not every terminal takes apple day
I’d be disappointed if you didn’t with that username.
haha, I actually have two work issued and personal so yes the username is uh…fitting.
Don’t lose your phone.
If I do, the phone is instantly brickable, two calls to cancel the CCs and I would need to replace my ID (a fun process in California where you get a paper replacement). If you mark your phone lost it spoils all your Pay cards (I’ve tested multiple times).
I left the Google/Nest ecosystem over data sharing (I have an almost new Nest Gen3 Thermostat in the office closet next to all my Echo devices), so I can’t really recommend anything. Mine is a HomeKit device that is the only reliable Homekit device I have, but it doesn’t play nicely.
I have three different smart device bridges…
For smart home stuff, don’t try to stay in an ecosystem. Use your phone as the ecosystem, but buy the best devices available at the time. I have an echobee 4 pro, hue bulbs, Chamberlin garage door, undecided about smart locks, likely will do some kind of CPI security system. So I’m all over the place for devices.
