Looking to lease a 2021 BMW X6M

Anyone know what a good monthly payment should look like on one of these babies?

Any tips on where I should be looking to get the best deals?

You should follow the steps he gives, seriously. Follow them and you will get the best possible deal in this market. It will require some work. If you don’t want to do the work, that’s ok, just hire a broker.

It is practically impossible for us to tell you what a “good” monthly payment is for your specific lease as lease programs are highly dependent on region, personal qualifications, tax rates, etc.

We always recommend the following method before you ever contact a dealership. If you do all of the work up front, you’ll have a stress free dealer experience and set yourself for success.

  1. Read Leasing 101 (EDITORIAL | LEASEHACKR) to understand how to calculate a lease payment and the variables. Monthly payment is an output, not an input!!
  2. Pick a specific vehicle that you want to target
  3. Gather the current MF, RV and incentives from Edmunds forums for your zip code
  4. Research the LH marketplace and other deals that have been made recently on your vehicle - what was their pre-incentive discount? How did their lease terms differ?
  5. Plug your numbers into the LH calculator (CALCULATOR | LEASEHACKR), and use a pre-incentive discount similar to what you have seen
  6. Create a target deal, this is what you’re trying to negotiate to. You can try different terms, selling price discount, etc. and see how your monthly payment is affected. It is also possible that different trims of your vehicle may have different MF and RV (i.e. this is very common with GM), so make sure that you look into that. Come up with a set of inputs that give you the output that you want - your desired monthly payment.

With a target price determined, you now have a deal to pursue and compare dealer offers against. More importantly, you have a solid foundation to work from.

Right now, unless you absolutely need a car, it’s a terrible time to lease any car.

I would lease one before buying one, but it’s going to be a very poor lease value.

Probably not. They were a bit pricey to lease (vs X5) before the shortage. They’re way worse now. If you’re price sensitive and happy to pay whatever it costs, only in that case go for it.

My question is, even before this whole car shortage crisis. Could you even get a deal on an X6?

I am aware, you can only pretty much lease it at the msrp value right now. But before all of this could you even get a decent deal on the X6?

Sure but your initial questions make absolutely no sense.

What information are you really seeking by asking if leasing one is a good idea? What feedback are you seeking? What’s a good deal?

Sorry for the confusion. Yes what would be considered a good deal on this vehicle?

Also even before this whole car shortage were there any good deals on the X6 price wise?

No, not really. That was basically what I already said to you. They’re even worse now.

What makes you want to target an X6 in this market? What makes you think you’re finding good deals on them now? If there were good deals then but there aren’t now, how does that change what you would do now?

As far as my memory goes back to December 2020.

MSRP: 81K
Discount: 8%
Incentives: $3000 (Lease Cash $1000, Loyalty $500, College Graduate $1000 and Lease to Lease $500)
MSDs: 7
Monthly: $947 36K/12 months with first month DAS

I don’t remember the RV
My budget was pretty much $1,000 so I was happy to land this with the help of a broker. I had an X5 and did not want to go from X5 to X5 and the X7 felt like a big bus so the X6 was my pick. If I did not have an X5, I would’ve gotten the X5 at a lower cost and much more of a practical car fuel wise and also space. However, I never carry passengers or cargo , and I don’t drive as much these days to worry about fuel.

To date, the car is not easily found. I thought about selling mine. With little concern about chip shortage/discounts etc, I just don’t know what other car catches my eyes should I sell this one.
