Acura ZDX lease extension options (signle pay)

My ZDX lease is up in February 2027, and I’m considering extending it for another year. Curious if anyone has already gone through the process with Acura Financial.

I called AFS recently and was told I could extend for 12 months at the same monthly rate. Mine is a 24-month one-pay lease ($7.5K total, including taxes and fees).

The confusing part is that they simply divided my original payment by 24 and said I’d owe that amount plus sales tax for the extension. I explained that taxes were already included in my one-pay amount, but they insisted otherwise.

They also said I’d have to prepay the full year but could return the car anytime during the extension. Apparently, the unused sales tax wouldn’t be refunded. Not sure how the rest of the prepaid amount would be handled.

I’m in Illinois, so tax treatment might differ by state.

Has anyone extended a ZDX lease, especially a one-pay? How was your payment calculated? Any surprises with taxes, early returns, or other fees?

Don’t have the answer for your questions, however, How’s your ZDX so far? what trim?

Read all the way through as most or all of the crazy extensions were adjusted.

Thanks, I was following this thread, but want to see if there is any recent development on this as we are approaching November.

The AFS agent was not able to articulate why they are applying tax on top of the monthly payment that already has tax. I wonder if anyone else experience this issue or got a different renewal offer.

ZDX drives like a GM product and it does the job hauling the family comfortably. No major complaints for what it is at $315 per month rate.

Thanks for posting and looking forward to your outcome with you ZDX extensions. I am also thinking extending but if AFS adjusts contract after calling, it’s bad business practice. Let us know what you end up doing. Thanks!

Illinois taxes lease payments on the sum of the payments. They should only be including the additional tax on the base extension payments. It just might be too difficult for them to back out taxes from the original payment to arrive at the new extension payment.
