This website is v. whiny these days.

It’s not whiny. It’s entitled. The entitlement needs to stop. Nobody is owed a deal.

This!

“Hi can you match this deal from April in Georgia and deliver the car to me? I reside in Vermont.”

Curious, Are referring to my post or the site in general ?
@aronchi

the site in general. your post re: broker fees is just wrong. the market dictates what people are allowed to make, not your opinion. if the tide goes out, like it did in 2020, those of us who know what we’re doing will still be fine. if cars run out, like they did in 2022, those of us who know what we’re doing will still be fine.

That’s how you supposedly get blacklisted by all brokers lol

You aren’t alone. I’ve been ignored a couple of times. I just don’t care enough to complain because I move on, try someone else, or do the work myself.

Not if one is smart and brokers shouldn’t get offended (except for people with outrageous or unrealistic requests).

The talk of being whiny and entitled goes both ways but people come out to support brokers like they are gods. This year, I have referred 4 people to broker postings on this site and they have gone nowhere. These individuals were ready to lease, realistic, and not savvy on leasing negotiations. If brokers are charging fees they need to realize that they are going to customers who need some guidance and these people are not out to waste their time. This is especially true on lower brands like Kia or Hyundai or even VW or Lexus.

Some brokers just want people to pay their fee and not deal with providing guidance. People who go to brokers fall into two primary buckets IMO, those who know what they want, are savvy, and don’t want to waste time with contacting multiple dealers (such as me) OR people who hate the dealership and haggling experience but want a good deal.

The others with unrealistic expectations can take a hike and I fully agree with brokers calling them entitled.

If they are so busy, how do they manage to micro adjust each one of their posts by $2/month every day?

Many (most) of the brokers on here are great. You just have to approach them the right way to solicit a meaningful response. There are a few that seem to not want the business, includes some dealers on here, which begs the question. Why are they on here in the first place?

The good thing about the broker community here is you, as the buyer, can choose across multiple options for most brands. If you don’t like the way one broker handles business, move onto the next. The level of customer service (hand holding? friendliness?) can definitely be uneven from one broker to the next, but some here do provide excellent service. Or, just hack the deal yourself.

Genuine to you and some other busy brokers (@aronchi), why not look at automating some of your inbound leads w/ software instead of just texting? You can literally use GPT-4o (free) and create some simple programs to help you deal with additional customers.

Please keep in mind with the CDK outage is still effecting dealerships n brokers and are really backed up. The timing of the outage couldnt be worse and you are probably reaching out to them during the last week or days of the month and 2nd quarter. Most brokers probably already have paid customers who signed up for their services ahead and are still having issues taking delivery.

Im having similar issues with actual FL dealers who I have personally known for years and its a mess whixh isnt just effecting sales but also service departments.

No offense but if you really have been leasing since 1989, maybe try hitting up dealers yourself and you may get a better understanding of the shitstorm everyone else been dealing with.

Or even just an automatic message. “ Hello, I’m not available right now, please call me back during my normal business hours of 9-5, not 3am you cretin!”

My experience with brokers here is everyone (I think) answered my texts.

But the difference was in the response

Most were 1 or 2 word answers.

Example: I saw you post on LH for xyz. I’m looking for xyz but with Awd, do you have any? Reply: no

Others were “hey thanks for writing, unfortunately I don’t have any of these available. Maybe try back next month”

The difference in replies tells me a lot of how a potential transaction will go.

It’s the classic business mentality of short term vs long term relationships. Go fornthe quick easy transaction or invest time into cultivating long term relationships.

I have the best example on this. My real estate agent. I met him 20 years ago. Saw a bunch of houses, ended up not buying anything. I felt a little bad since I felt like I wasted his time. But I didn’t waste anything. He invested his time into building a relationship. In the ensuing 20 years I’ve used him to buy and sell 10+ homes. I’ve also sent a ton of business his way from friends and colleagues.

And also during that time I’ve seen hundreds of homes that I obviously didn’t buy. That’s his MO. If I want to see some houses even if I have no intention of buying, I just want to see what’s out there, he’s there. And that’s how he is with all his clients. He’s got an excellent reputation around town and is often the guy everyone mentions when asked to recommend a real estate agent.

He’s the antithesis of the typical agent who’s focuses solely on transactions. Which works OK during good times but as soon as there’s even a slight drop in the market, those people disappear.

it shouldn’t. those who wrote you an essay reply have the spare time to do so. those of us with one word answers are often actually DOING the delivery with our client, which means they get to avoid a finance office and people pitching them on key replacement insurance. if you’re looking to purchase a phone #, there are plenty here who will sell you one, though.

I find some^ (most?) hackrs do a combo of this- you hand hold to the point of getting a contract in front of them- and then they shop you :joy:

Honestly the work flow by end of month is overwhelming. Cleaning up done deals and attempting to close new ones while inventory is flowing out is not an easy juggle.

It wasn’t an essay. It was a sentence or two vs a word or two. The extra time spent was a few seconds. I can get busy at work as well. I still write emails with more than 2 words when someone asks me a question.
