40 Days After Lease - Dealer Demands $1300+ Payment

But you also failed to mention this

That should have been a conversation with the dealer, not VW Credit, as its the dealer that wants the $1300.

You essentially had a conversation with a party in the equation that was completely happy with everything.

Why you giving the dude a hard time? If you knew anything about anything you would know that this happened a month after the fact and the bank had already funded the contract. He can’t just talk to the dealer and unwind (like I have said before - it is not his choice). He can’t even threaten because the deal is funded. Relax yo.

Thanks for saving me the reply. This guy clearly doesn’t get it.

If I ā€˜return’ the car, I am essentially doing a voluntary repossession and will be ruining my credit. There is no such thing as unwinding a deal in California, there is no cool-off period, and even if there was, this was 30 days after I signed the freaking deal!

So telling him he’s talking to the wrong individual is giving someone a hard time? I guess i’m giving him a hard time.

I’m not talking about a cooling off period and i’m also not talking about voluntary repossession. I live in CA, i’m very well aware of the options.

But best of luck in your fight.

Okay, I have read this whole somnabitch, and I am still not clear.

You have no idea why you owe $1300 more? They just say you owe it?

Bahahahahaha.

Ask him if why he didn’t just unwind the deal…

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I think I read most of it.
Just an advice.
Walk into the dealership and talk to the manager over there to clarify the situation for you. Maybe you will be (unpleasantly) surprized that they actually are right and they are covered by the signed contract.

If they just beat around the bush then maybe they are just fishing and do this as common practice. If out of 50 requests 10 people pay, they make $13000. Not too shabby.

But showing your face in there is a move that carries a lot of weight believe it or not. And it’s free.

Good luck, I am looking forward to see how it ends. I hope you resolve this quickly and favorably for you. You are right to be angry, but take a breath, keep a cool head

I agree with this comment. I find showing up in person is far less awkward too, and it’s much easier to find out a person’s actual intentions vs a phone call or certified letter. It could be a simple misunderstanding easily resolved in 10 minutes.

Yes, this worked for me.

Try NBC / Telemundo - NBC Universal.
They have a consumer advocate investigative teams that handles these disputes.

My Investigative Producer @ NBC Los Angeles got what I rightly deserved from Best Buy a year ago…

He’s already in touch with the local CBS affiliate.

OP, why not just unwind the deal?

I think at this point after reading the entire thread, all that’s left for OP to do is unwind the deal and give the car back. It’s really the only way to give the dealer the 'ole one-two. That will show those scallywags what he’s made of!

One problem- there’s no way the dealer will unwind the deal and is under no obligation to do so.

We were being sarcastic. We know that’s not an option.

If they won’t unwind, maybe rewind?

Never mind.

My questions:

  • scan and post everything the dealer sent you
  • get a detailed accounting from VW corporate (I don’t believe that they won’t give to you) in writing and post it as well

We can’t help you without information
