Yes it does bc you said future generations don’t have to work. I never said anything about the 2nd generation not working.
I’m also not shitting on factory workers. I’m addressing the fundamental flaw of expecting tariffs to revive a industry that was declining for a reason. And that the policy doesn’t address those core issues. So now all of america has to pay for that by spending more on something that we didn’t need to.
While some here are certainly more versed than I am, I do know we had NAFTA that passed w/ bipartisan support and then it was renegotiated and the USMCA vote passed also with bipartisan support. Since the 2nd version more recently passed why wasn’t the US made parts percentage increased or just made to include engines, etc…
One of things I am intrigued by is we all hear every year how x percentage of the population cannot afford a $400 emergency and 47% of the population pays no income taxes though 2/3 of that 47% pay into SS and Medicare….are either of these groups going to be able to afford higher prices whether it’s autos or anything else?
As Scott Bessent said, being American doesn’t guarantee access to cheap goods, which is true. I’m just not sure how much more you can push the economically challenged portion of the population, esp after the last 6 years.
We had recently gotten to a point where wages were finally outpacing inflation again, that’s the sad part. So the economically challenged were catching up. I hope we aren’t going into a recession, but the Bond Market is starting to flash slowdown messages.
I just heard Pharma tariffs are now coming. Trump also said he’s willing to make deals on tariffs, and that there may be ways to avert auto tariffs all in the same speech.
This thread is the new used car pricing peak insanity thread. If the policy (not politics) stuff remains here, then it won’t dirty the rest of the site.
Congrats by the way for being the creator of this thread.
Bro - you brought up the CFPB and said they were gone so peeps can get screwed again on financing deals.
Was just showing you that their demise has been greatly exaggerated, along with apparently most federal employees and agencies that were left for dead.
