23’ Rubicon 4XE Ride Comfort

,

I have a deal pending on a Wrangler Rubicon 4xe.

However, I’ve read online that the ride comfort isn’t great. Can some of you guys familiar with the vehicle comment?

I have a hip problem and about once a month drive 300-400 miles into VA from NJ; often non-stop. Will this be difficult in the Rubicon?

Find a dealer nearby and test drive.

For 400 miles? Lol

I’ve driven it, the question is for ppl who have driven it long distance

I see, the problem is no one is going to have your exact hip problem. The only opinions you get here will probably match that of other forums. Some will say it’s uncomfortable, some will say it’s fine.

Agree that no one can really answer OP’s question, but I don’t know if anyone will actually say it is fine. MT long-term review was very diplomatic about the ride (and the tiring aspect of having to deal w/ a reciprocal ball steering on long drives):

The Edmunds long-term logs are peppered with how unpleasant the car is on longer drivers (although one tester did comment that it wasn’t as bad as he was expecting).

Body-on-frame cars that are optimized for off-roading aren’t known for being comfortable on long drives. Wranglers are rather well-known for being uncomfortable.

Seems an odd choice of vehicle for your needs IMO.

The last thing you need is to be bounced around on the moon crater quality roads of the northeast. You want a longer wheelbase, pliant suspension and a nice amount of sidewall on passenger tires.

The ride comfort I think is mostly the noise issues you’ll have driving one of these. I mean they’re a lot of fun but it’s arguably the least refined ride on the road… and I love mine.

Seats are going to vary from ride to ride, I don’t think the Jeep seats are any better or worse than others and if you’re on smooth highway for a long trip you’re just contending with road noise. Bumpy back roads, maybe you’re better off in something cushier.

Lol I remember posting something here about how bad the ride is and MLLCB said he liked it.

It’s all in a person’s POV

Really??? He’s got weird bones.

Yes here when there was a comparison of the ride to a Telluride

I think “GC” stands for Grand Cherokee (not a Wrangler).

I imagine a GC prob does have a very nice ride.

Ah, that explains it , yes the GC would ride better than a Wrangler.

I am 28 and have only driven wranglers, and one pickup truck that I currently have, since getting my license. Most of them stick shift. There is nothing soft or comfortable about any of them. I have had multiple JKUs and JLUs. For 400 miles a month its fine. I put 30,000 on while commuting to med school during one year on one of them and it was brutal by the end.

It’s not a comfortable car and they’re not for everyone. But they’re fun. OlllllllO

What are “JKU” and “JLU”?

Different models of the Wrangler. (More like Different years), the U is Unlimited

JKU from 07-18
JLU 18+
JTU is the gladiator.

I can’t tell whether this is clever or awful. Perhaps it’s both.

No one buys a Rubi for ride comfort sorry.

It’s a Jeep thing, you wouldnt understand. It goes with leaving ducks on peoples door handles and waving at Every other wrangler that passes by.

Pairs well with the tire cover I had with a gear shift that said “equipped with a millennial anti-theft device”. All while being a full millennial with the standard rescue pitbull out the side window that every Jeep owner has. And yeah, I hate myself too at times….

No I get it. I make my current vehicle choice my entire personality too.
