It’s surprising that Toyota will only offer the Camry as a hybrid model.
An Uber drivers wet dream
Crown was a huge flop. I guess they think turning it into an suv will save it. That space is already crowded in the brand though, I guess this is replacing the venza?
The Camry looks okay but Toyota know the fan base will buy the Camry no matter how weird it look. Isn’t Toyota delayed does anyone really put red seats in there vehicles anymore. Since Toyota put red seats in there vehicle I haven’t seen any luxury brands with them anymore.
Pretty sure every luxury brand has red seats still as an option…
I feel like Toyota is reworking their entire lineup in order to make Lexus EV Luxury brand, Crown to take over the Lexus spot (super reliable luxury with seemingly outdated tech) in ICE and Toyota staying where it is with ICE.
Looks like it will be very grounded to the ground
Not a fan, nope
It can’t sell worse than the crown that’s for sure. I still haven’t seen a crown on the road. I think I’ve sold 2 of them ever
There’s just no reason to have so many models imo. Corolla cross, rav, venza highlander, grand high, runner, Land Cruiser, seq. They need to focus on just perfecting a few SUVs
I’ve seen a few crowns and they are so ugly. Also Toyota seems to sell a lot of every SUV so I think they will wait to kill them off.
The new Camry looks the same as the current one except for the very front end. It’s just a facelift not a redesign. They have been selling the same design for 10-15 years it seems.
This has no rational basis so please do not look for one, but, is it me or does the Camry have this innate and inherent “vanilla” feel to it that its competitors do not (at least not to the same extent)?
Like, I somehow feel less plain bagel in an Accord than I do in a Camry.
The crown was not horrible per say but it does not have a value proposition. Crossover hybrid that looks like a crossover but feels like a nice camry, with a high price-tag. If felt like the Nissan Ariya but and I hate to say this…not as nice, although I’m sure it will last 200k miles and the Ariya will need a whole new work up at 50k miles.
Why change what works? They sell a ton of them. I’m sure they updated some tech inside and now they’re all hybrids too. Toyota knows how to make money by not adding a ton of risky products to their lineup. They forced the EV and lost on that, luckily it was just one model and not many like domestic autos are getting crushed with.
Stock is up close to 40% this year while most other companies are getting hammered for following trends.
The Crown Signia will sell just because it’s a CUV
The “sedan” was DOA… IDK what Toyota was thinking or whether Japan HQ still makes all decisions for N. America in 2023
Did a single person in the room not stand up to say “Crown” means nothing to American buyers and lifted sedans have no market here?
I thought the same as soon as it was announced and knew there was no chance to have good sales on it. Should have just kept the Avalon if that was their intention and redesigned it.
thats literally my first reaction, “cant wait to sit in one for an uber ride”
Too much risk avoidance IMO, and I would actually call it complacency. I recall the Toyota of the 1980s and early 1990s with completely redesigned cars every 4-5 years that were drastically better than the one before. The Camry from 1984 to 1988 to 1992 is an example. I wouldn’t say those were risky cars but each one showed the company was increasingly capable. Now there doesn’t seem to be much new excellence. I guess they throw their effort into SUVs now and maybe would have discountinued the Camry for the US like Mazda did for the 6 but Toyota favored milking it.
Replacing the venza but is much more expensive. 40k expected start.
The Venza is dead, time to see if I can pull a unicorn on 1.
