By the way, here is a quote from Calabasas on a 2024 loaner 540i:
11k miles and they want $700 a month plus tax with $5k due at signing. So with $0 due at signing, the payment would be $850 a month. The car I was originally asking about in this thread is $910 a month but brand new. Do I want to bother with a 11k miles abused car for $60 less a month? Absolutely not

Look for letter āLā in stock number, thatās how most dealers designate loaners.
A/B/C, etc = customer trade
P = purchase (ie auction)
T = trade
Some (AutoNation) donāt use this scheme, have to see CarFax.
Here you go
His car is 65,745 and itās 2024 and it has 14,000 miles on it. Again, my car is brand new $67k. What sense does his car make? no sense at all
Thatās not how it works! Just talk to Dave and see what he can do before dismissing it. You are not necessarily comparing apples to apples here. Need to know MSRP on his car. The trick with the loaners is to find the biggest delta between sticker and cap cost and loaded cars usually produce best results. And no one said that the website price is set in stone.
Got it, thank you
Please post your best attempt using the Leasehackr calculator (although, since you deleted the post mentioning the Audi deal, Iām not sure if you want any feedback about that).
And hereās an idea for purchase along the lines of what @max_g was talking about (canāt lease this one) - finance for 72 mos, keep for ~36. Pay a tad more than your lease offer for a much better car and may even have some equity at the current prices in 3 years.

No offense LAKings, but itās not a good experience on LH to have a user show up, talk about wanting to lease a non-EV⦠then spend a lot of replies trying to defend wanting to do that decision. Itās got to be the most offputting experience to literally participate on a forum talking about leasing, then get steered to CPO or buying to save a few bucks.
The entire reason leasing exists is not to pander to LH bargain hunters. The lease provides a way for a person to stay in the freshest rides, with full manufacturer warranty and usually pay a stiff premium to do do so. Leasing isnāt for everyone, but itās definitely right up the alley of what pabramovich is looking for. Heās eyes wide open.
Taken to an extreme, people arenāt expecting LH users to combat leasing ⦠being put on the defensive to explain a desire to lease on a leasing forum kinda sucks. It leads to some feelings of eggplant-ness. Youāre not there, but itās a short ride to that destination.
Could he do better than lease a BMW 540i, perhaps. But there isnāt much going on in SoCal going with @BMW_Dave or @ZZAutoDeals would save a lot of time. someone diligently hunting a deal might beat their pricing a bit with some sweat equity.
Really donāt see anything off-putting here. The OP is clearly an intelligent adult who came here for constructive criticism⦠and he got just that. Nothing personal, all dollars and cents. No participation trophies either.
Heās got information to work with, now the ball is in his court. At the end of a day, itās his money and his decision.
Correct, but I wanted to get a feedback with regards to the lease deal I presented, not that the purchase may be better than a lease ![]()
Youād need to discuss that with brokers or BMW dealers. Donāt think any of us would have an exact answer for you on a 25 540 as I donāt recall seeing one being signed or even discussed here before. You already know why.
So, just to make it clear, you are āshopping the carā (meaning you really want a 540i specifically, even if there are other similar speccād cars from other brands that might lease better, and you also do not want an EV)?
Oh no, I am open to other similar cars, but youāre correct, no EV. As I mentioned before, I really like Audi A7 prestige but that;s even more expensive than the 540 for some unknown to me reason.
Basically, what I wanted to get folks reaction on was: is the 10% discount off of MSRP a good discount or can I do better? All other aspects of a lease deal look good to me. The MF of 0.0018 (approximately 4.5% rate) is not bad at all in todayās environment. 57% residual is also pretty decent
How about splitting the difference and looking at the 550e? There is $4500 lease credit. Might be able to get to a similar cost.
Thatās interesting, I havenāt looked at the 550ās
By itself it sounds like a great discount, but you need more rebates for a better overall deal. Did you try to counter at say 12% off MSRP?
I wouldnāt call it decent. A higher RV makes for a better lease.
Hereās some free advice - DO NOT buy this car, unless you plan to keep it for at least 4 years and within warranty.
@pabramovich - If you really want a 540i, check out brokers deals in the Marketplace and go with the best overall deal.

For comparison, the 550e has 483 hp vs the 540iās 375 hp.
I actually mentioned 550e twice earlier today, including my very first post on this thread, lol.
FYI, A7 is more of a competitor to 8 series while A6 to 5ers.
No one is offering a 12% discount on this car. Actually, 57% is a very decent residual value these days. itās obvious that higher RV makes a lower monthly payment but most cars today are between 50% and 57% with rare exceptions. Why not BUY this car? First of all,. I am not buying, I am leasing. Second of all, why not? I donāt see an argument against it. So far I havenāt seen anything in this thread that says itās not a good deal and here is a good argument for it
I am not sure I agree with this statement. A6 comes in 4 cylinders while 540i has 6 cylinders. Honestly, I donāt see how the A7 is at least $10k more expensive than 540i. What makes it so much more expensive ?
