They both do… It qualifies due to the battery meeting guidelines. Performance roll out includes North America, specifically made in California.

  • 2023–2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance with an MSRP limit of $55,000
  • At least 60% of the car’s battery components must be manufactured or assembled in North America.
  • At least 50% of the critical minerals in the battery must be extracted or processed in the U.S. or a country that has a free trade agreement with the U.S., or be recycled in North America.

There is no Highland Model 3 Performance yet. Have they released the battery details of the one that will eventually be coming? We also don’t know the price.

So, I was wrong on this.

There IS indeed a $7500 tax credit for the 2024 Model 3. However, it is applied up-front when you purchase/lease the car.

I ended up taking delivery of the lease in my OP, last week.

The $7500 was applied as a cap cost reduction.
