2023 Toyota Mirai (purchase) MSRP $52,629-OTD tax incl. $28,415 $359.92/mo after $2500 down

The concept is interesting but without infrastructure you’ve got bupkis.

At least with BEV worst case scenario you can ask a friendly stranger if you can plug into an exterior outlet for a few hours to get to the nearest L2/L3 or drop into an RV Park and hook up to a 14-50.

TBH if there was no $7500 CVRP involved in this deal, I wouldn’t have gotten it :+1: or if CVRP was not limited to one EV I would’ve gotten a regular BEV, I can foresee another BEV in the near future for me using CVAP :joy: that program offers $7500 also… maybe a Chevy BEV down the line (has to be under $45,000 as per rules etc)

Car works well for a very very narrow use case. Basically if a station is within a few miles of your house. If you are relying on a station near your work then not worth the stress.

Cool!

My roundtrip commute 6 days/wk is only 6 miles. I have 3 hydrogen stations within a 9 mi drive from me (and one that’s only ~1.4 miles away, although that one’s been down for the last 2 days). I will never be able to afford a “regular” Lexus LS, so the idea of a Mirai appeals to me. But my work parking spot is pretty narrow, so folding mirrors would be really helpful.

If I had 3 stations that close
I would have already scooped it up

Especially if you qualify for the 7500

I would be afraid to drive such a car.

Seems like a ticking time bomb

Nah, I have the 6-yr warranty on my Golf Sportwagen that lasts until next Dec.

I think the deal will get better. Still TONS of mirai inventory in socal

Cvrp could run out tho

Still plenty of Funding available, $278 Mil or so

Stay away from this car at all costs. I have a friend who owns a 2022 limited trim, and the whole ownership has been a disaster. The backseat is cramped with a massive floor hump and is designed for kids at best. The center console is huge to accommodate a hydrogen tank. Hands down a worse bit about the ownership is fueling. The local Shell station is down for the last few months and will be back online sometime late in the summer. Prior to local station going down, the average fueling time was over 45 mins due to long lines. Often he experienced H35 will be available hence you can only fill tanks to 50%. Now, let’s talk about resale value. He was offered $16K by a local Toyota dealership for 2022 limited with 7XXX miles.

Which station is this?

Probably the Seal Beach station… too far from us :joy:

Valid points…but,

As I said it does work for me and everyone’s situation is different. I am the sole occupant in the vehicle so no need for back seats-almost never. Fuel hasn’t been an issue for my local stations and I don’t mind fueling 40 miles away-I take trips that way anyway. Resale values don’t concern me at all, as I knew what I was getting, a cheap nice luxury sedan for little to no cost to operate plus a monthly “fee” of $360 :joy: What other car can be had for this low monthly, not even a Corolla :upside_down_face:

It will work for some-it won’t work for others…

Hows the insurance vs your Tesla?

For both cars paying $627/6 months, so $50 per car monthly, and it is cheaper than the tesla on my policy-or maybe not, because I have it at 3000 miles per year and Tesla is 7500 :joy: Costco Connect is the provider,

I had the first gen Mirai bc of I was able to get the HOV sticker. 2 stations on my route, Pasadena and Beverly stations. It was practically a free lease after all said and done. When there was a hydrogen shortage up north, although my station wasn’t affected, Toyota credited me with 3 months of lease payments. Around month 16 I was rear ended and the Mirai was totaled even though the damage looked minor. My insurance paid out only 24k but my payoff was over 48k. Toyota just wrote it off without me even asking. Car drove very well btw.

So your nozzle foreskin can freeze and you have to just sit there and wait for it to defrost?
