Hey gang, I put a deposit down on a 2023 Sequoia TRD Pro in Black with Red interior at MSRP.
I was given a MF of .00225 and a residual of 64% for 12k per year for 36.
Has anyone else leased a Sequoia or have any other details that would be helpful in negotiating a better deal. I haven’t decided which way would be best wether it’s to purchase or lease. It’s going into production middle of June, with an expected del date of mid July.
Would love to hear your thoughts or if there is anything better out there in the full size SUV space. The only other vehicle that the Mrs. has liked has been the GLS.
What is your wife looking for in an SUV and has she driven the Sequoia?
GLS and Sequoia are different in so many ways. The Sequoia is refined for a toyota but it still has plastic everywhere and sounds like a 500cc motorcycle.
First thing I’d do is have the Mrs look at both. Second, there’s not going to be any negotiation on the sale price of the Sequoia. If it’s MSRP, you’re in good shape. If they’re giving you base MF, that’s very very good for todays market on them. They can markup 100bps.
I have a feeling your wife will not like the Sequoia in comparison to the GLS. And if that’s the case, I’d still take the Sequoia and sell it for a profit. Lease it through TFS, don’t think twice about the MF, and sell it. An allocated Pro at msrp in a good color w pano roof and roof rack $10K in your pocket at a minimum (depending on taxes and fees - maybe more). The market could change by July but it probably wont be much on these. After you cash your check, you can send me a Buffalo Wild Wings gift card.
You might want to look at financing. Slightly higher monthly and up front cost, but lower TCO if you plan to keep it. Also you can refinance if rates come down
This is basically the same MSRP as a Land Rover Discovery or Defender and I know which I’d rather have (unless you plan on keeping it forever). Lease is definitely more on the Land Rover though (terrible MF and residual)
We have driven both, she has driven the sequoia on two different occasions. She parked it multiple times on one of the the test drive too lol. We enjoyed both the merc and the sequoia.
The only bit of reluctance we’re having is spending $80k on a toyota (we’ve had toyotas for the past 11yrs). The GLS will be a bit more and of course more refined, however we’re not sold on that either, both dealers and salesmen we dealt with were rude and the deals were just not there on the GLS.
Ultimately we want the most value for our $ and to be able to haul two kids (under 5) safely and comfortably. At the moment I don’t see a better alternative than the Sequoia, but am open to hear if there is I might be overlooking (domestic brands and land rover have been disqualified).
Very few, if any. I remember leading into 2020 for a few years, Volvo was advertising that they wanted cars with no fatalities by 2020. That being said, I don’t have to tell you the XC60 is a tank, since you have one. Even the hood on my S60 is one of the heaviest hoods I’ve had, though I haven’t had anywhere near as many cars as @Bostoncarconcierge.
Excuse me but the defender is definitely a proper Range Rover. They may not be as nice as a proper Range Rover but they’re also not $200k and way nicer than any Audi, BMW, or Mercedes product I’ve been in at that price point. Now if you wanna say it might be unreliable I won’t argue there.
Did they even do anything to the TRD pro seqoia to make it off road capable? Skid plates? Rear Diff lock? AT tires? Does op even need that stuff? If no then definitely Highlander AWD
