2023 BMW M2 discussion

Depends how far back you are on the list. Might be worth getting now if you get one at launch. On the other hand if you’re farther back and it looks like you’d only get a car in late 2023, I’d wait for the competition although if he this time around I doubt we’ll get a whole new engine like last time:

The press photos make me want one, the interior is honestly better than the exterior, I think a darker color would make it look even better than the red.

I’m very low single digit on the list at an east coast dealer.

And the car most people that intent to tune will go for.

The online configuration is now available on the BMW UK site if y’all wanna play around: https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/all-models/m-models/m2/2022/bmw-2-series-coupe-m-models-highlights.html

I wish there were more wheel options, it doesnt look terrible in black

They are most likely saving the higher end wheel options for the competition and CS models.

Based on this, the M2 seems to come fairly “loaded”. Personally wouldn’t find the blue to be too terrible with a cognac interior, but otherwise black would definitely be the way to go or maybe a darker individual color.

Is the site available in Braille?

Overall much better looking than the leaks. Price point as expected, personally all I will pay extra for will be the heated steering wheel and the Toronto Red metallic upcharge so all in I will keep it under $65k, which is sort of a bargain for a full-blown M car with manual transmission. Really looking forward to hopefully taking delivery in April. I will probably list it at a ridiculous ($80k?) price on Autotrader (might be the first used one for sale in the country at that point) while enjoying the car. If no one bites, I am happy to drive the car for a couple of years. And if someone is willing to pay a huge premium, I can always use the profit to chase the next fun car…

If you stick with simple options for G87 and don’t get options like $4.5k carbon buckets. Builds will easily be under $70k.

It is a M-vehicle that long time M enthusiasts look at as closest to BMW’s old ethos. The M3 or now M4 has grown considerably in size.

F87 M2 was basically the size of a E46 M3, to some the perfect M3. Also many who passed on the M4 pig snout were waiting for the M2.

This, plus the last M2CS was a fanatic track car. This is expected to be even better.

does this have to be a manual to have/retain significant resell value?

Last time around, I don’t believe there was a significant price difference on used values between manual and auto. Granted it was one of the last cars to use BMWs DCT instead of the ZF 8 speed that’s ubiquitous now

Apparently the UK model the manual will be $500 more expensive than the automatic one. I’d expect the manual to sell well.

M2CS cars have a premium for the stick.
