Not pretty, not horrific. Definitely better in orangey-red vs the powder blue one.
Does make me appreciate the M4’s proportions and I’m almost getting used to the M4’s warthog snot by now.

Maybe you, but not everyone. I pointed out an iX to partner recently, and partner (who likes cars but is not obsessive about them) spontaneously said, “What is going on w/ that car’s grille???” And that’s on an SUV!
For me, I think the 4-series is only tolerable b/c every one I’ve seen has been in a dark color. And, even past that, I can’t get over the weirdly stretched C-pillar and the perversion of the Hoffmeister kink.
Lol wtf
Might as well get an m3 which is way better looking.
Auto m3 comp is 3890 so m2 is 23 lb lighter but i get the sentiment
I think BMW’s website has a typo…
In any case… yeah whole point is… it’s a much smaller car but weighs virtually the same as its much bigger sibling. Makes no sense.
Car got 4 in longer, 1 in wider and 200 lb heavier.
Afaik the f87 had a roomier back seat than the g82 so if this gives more room to the back, id think of this g87 as a just as fun as a g82 but cheaper car.
That’s spot on
I’m curious how this would affect the market for the G82 M4, especially the 6MT and RWD Comp versions. The M3 still adds 4 doors, larger back seats etc. The previous M2 had a somewhat sparse interior, but this one looks pretty decent. MSRP roughly $10k below base M3/M4.
Here are the specs from BMW press releases for M2/M3/M4.
M2
Manual - 3814
Auto - 3867
M3
Base manual - 3840
Comp auto - 3890
M4
Base manual - 3830
Comp auto - 3880
If you are comparing weights from today’s M2 press release and BMWusa website figures for M3/M4. You are comparing apples to oranges.
They are different cars for different buyers. The shorter wheelbase is the big difference, it becomes a much more lively car to drive. The M4 has turned into a GT car.
I have not, actually looks worse every time I see one on the road. This M2 is the lesser of two evils between the M4 and M2. The pig snout is just f’n awful, a non starter.
I suppose we’ll need to see how much the options cost on the G87 M2. The base price of $63k seems very tempting, considering with options i’m betting it will still be in the low $70s. F87 M2 had very simple options, w/exec package or not, sunroof, MT/AT, paint color and stitching color. The G87 has a lot more options on the table curious how much it’s going to “really” cost with the options. A 3k price increase from the F87 seems very little considering that was a few years ago.
i kinda wonder how the m2 would have looked with more sharp angular edges.
Why is this particular m variant so hyped?
M4 as a GT car…where does the 8 series fit into this scheme?
Keep in mind this is just the base M2…
There will be the competition…then in 2024 the CS. So those two options will shed more weight and probably add a bit more performance.
It’s all about marketing. I’m pretty sure the M2 CS is probably gonna be close to 6 figures.
The Toronto red definitely makes the cat look 100x better than the baby blue.
I’d say a Marina Bay Blue or Sanmarino Blue would look fantastic on this.
I think both will be in '24. Honestly, I"m still mulling my deposit.
Red looks much better.
It’s the entry level M car so it has the lowest price and is also physically the smallest, so should have been the most “driver focused” car in BMW’s lineup.
Agree, the car looked atrocious in the Zandvoort blue. It’s funny because I remember the F87 being featured in its Laguna Blue launch color and later Hockenheim Silver for the Competition. BMW must have realized the blue wasn’t cutting it and switched the photos to Toronto Red. All the leaks were mainly in that light blue.
