2021 CX-5 GT Reserve Lease- 447/month with tax - 1000 down

Hi Guys. Just wanted to check with you if this is a good deal.
This is the best I could get for GT Reserve for my zip 30721.

CX5 Grand Touring Reserve AWD -2021 - Red / Parchment
36/15K miles
MSRP: 34961
Payment: 447 with tax
Zip 30721
Tags will be mailed in couple of weeks.
I asked the dealer if there are any other fees other than the 1000 down to pick up the car and he said no.

Looking forward for all your comments.
PS: I tried looking into european suvs. But couldn’t find a midsize suv (x3,q5 xc40) for 0 down, 15k miles that has upgraded sound, additional features such as Blind spot, Remote start etc under 500/month for zip. 30721

This sounds absolutely attrocious. You’ll want the actual details to determine just how bad it is.

you mean this is expensive for GT reserve?

Yes. There isn’t a world where a cx5 is worth $450/mo

Yes, I agree, this is not a very good deal!

Even though this is top of line trim level? this has the turbo engine. If it was the regular the dealer said he can bring down the payment under 395 but I really wanted the Reserve trim level since it has better engine.

Think about it this way: $50k BMW’s are going for that price…

what is the right monthly payment for GT Reserve? I was under the impression this was a decent deal. Looks like I’m getting busted.

True. But I’m not able to find something under 400.

It depends, I am still pretty new at this but I would ask the dealer for the MF and residual if you haven’t already.

How did you arrive at this conclusion?

Well, I looked at few spreadsheets of mazda lease brokers. Also spoke to one. He said he would take this deal. Also for my location there is nothing good he said. His spreadsheet showed 389 plus tax and 1999 due at signing with 4 msds for GT reserve. My quote from a local dealer has only 1000 down and no msds and includes tax. So I thought it is a decent deal compared to other dealers. Some dealers quoted crazy payments. As others mentioned 450 range is good for x3 but it doesnt have features I’m looking for. I thought I will also check with everyone here. This is my first time.

Forgot to mention 499 broker fees on top all that.

I also wanted to get a x3. But at this moment for me features matter more than the brand. Like good sound system , blind spot for wife, remote start etc. If I go with European brands these features make the payment go to 550 plus. The closest drive feel and interior I got from Japanese brands is mazda. I know this is a personal choice. But after driving all the competitors I liked mazda. Wanted to go little cheaper but at the same time I wanted the features that is very important for me.

Maybe you could see if the dealer offers loaner leases? I’ve never owned a Mazda so I’m not sure if Mazda does that but it could save you a significant amount of money.

Or you could look for a loaner BMW, which I’ve had before. They usually have good options and large discounts and come almost as new.

I tried. was not able to find a x3 for $450 that has HK and Driving assist, Climate pkg. Any x3 that had HK and Driving assist was above 520. With tax it comes to 550 plus

Here’s my suggestion: stop looking at specific vehicles for a bit. If you want to end up with a decent deal, you need to start with the leasing fundamentals. Work through the leasing101 section, using the calculator, etc. Monthly payment is the output of the leasing equation and the last thing to focus on.

You really need to know the money factor and residual on the car to know if it’s a good deal. Are they marking up the MF? Do you have top credit? What’s the selling price? There are a lot of factors that could impact the monthly total.

I don’t feel like there is enough info.

Also, there is a difference between a good lease for that car and a good lease overall. No one on this site will encourage you to get a Mazda for $450+ a month when you can get a generally superior German car for the same price.

With that said, I understand what it’s like looking at cars that work for you and your wife rather than the flashy badge. I’m in the same boat as you.

Bottom line - need more info to determine if it’s a good lease for that specific car in your area.

I did all that already. May be its Jan and not many deals out there. Not able to find a midsize suv in german brands with the features I’m looking for. also mine is 15k miles. When I’m specific about 15 k miles, premium audio and safety features the msrp shoots up. I tried bmw (x3), audi(q5) and volvo (xc90) both new and loaners. With my requirements the payment goes to 550+ even after putting msds and das.
