2021 Crosstrek Premium - lease yay or nay?

My username says hybriddude but this is a gas car :stuck_out_tongue:
PNW location
2021 Crosstrek premium lease, 36mo, 10K
MSRP $26,624
Selling price: $24,469
Residual: 65%
MF: 0.00185
Adj cap cost: $23,112
Monthly: $277 includes 10.2% tax
DAS: $2240 (includes 1st month payment)
DAS includes govt fee 500 + doc fee 150+ acq fee 595 + 1st month payment 270 + money down towards cap cost reduction 995

Please judge based on location (I know you guys in CA and Northeast can do much much better). I cant get away with “no payment down on lease” so please consider that (Just add $30/month towards monthly payment to compare with 0 down?).

With all that said - yay or nay? Thinking of signing later in the week.

@28firefighter , @jamiemose , y’all getting spammed this week!

It is practically impossible for us to tell you what a “good” monthly payment is for your specific lease as lease programs are highly dependent on region, personal qualifications, tax rates, etc.

We always recommend the following method before you ever contact a dealership. If you do all of the work up front, you’ll have a stress free dealer experience and set yourself for success.

  1. Read Leasing 101 (Blog | LEASEHACKR) to understand how to calculate a lease payment and the variables. Monthly payment is an output, not an input!!
  2. Pick a specific vehicle that you want to target
  3. Gather the current MF, RV and incentives from Edmunds forums for your zip code
  4. Research the LH marketplace and other deals that have been made recently on your vehicle - what was their pre-incentive discount? How did their lease terms differ?
  5. Plug your numbers into the LH calculator, and use a pre-incentive discount similar to what you have seen
  6. Create a target deal, this is what you’re trying to negotiate to. You can try different terms, selling price discount, etc. and see how your monthly payment is affected. It is also possible that different trims of your vehicle may have different MF and RV (i.e. this is very common with GM), so make sure that you look into that. Come up with a set of inputs that give you the output that you want - your desired monthly payment.

With a target price determined, you now have a deal to pursue and compare dealer offers against. More importantly, you have a solid foundation to work from.

What do you mean by this?

Subaru dealers are a dime a dozen up here.

We’re missing the Money Factor the dealer is using and the breakdown of the due at signing amount. Have you confirmed the base lease rates for this model over on Edmunds?

On it’s face? The discount is mediocre. Highly suggest talking with Subaru of Puyallup, Carter Subaru, and Eastside Subaru.

I gave you two other dealers to work with - don’t be afraid to shop around.

I’d be targeting 10+% - no shortage of inventory on these cars and that is with buy rate on the MF. If you’re working with Walkers in Renton, definitely shop around.

@28firefighter added MF

Buy rate or what the dealer is charging or both?

Buy rate on the MF is .00140 so they’re marking it up which negates your discount further - its costing you $720 more with their marked up rate. You need to shop more.

Also, you should not be putting any money upfront - I’d advise only paying first month.

This is what I would be targeting, personally, at bare minimum:

Nay. Way too much for a compact.

What the dealer is charging. So based on @28firefighter 's comment below, MF seems high (ofcourse they havent done a credit check yet but my credit score is 750+)

We couldnt get a great lease deal on the Crosstek and ended up getting a Lexus UX instead for a better price and more features.

Maybe. But the heart wants what the heart wants. And Seattle isn’t exactly an easy market to deal in.

It’s a Crosstrek

Of all the rental cars I’ve had in the past few years, the Crosstrek I got was my favorite.

Granted, it’s not hard to surpass the mighty GMC Terrain or Nissan Altima

At least they finally put a bigger engine in it, effective $331 with just first DAS, no thanks

Yeah I like Stop&Shop’s private label vanilla ice cream more than Walmart’s, too

Have you been to Seattle recently? They’re quite popular.

The Crosstrek premium comes with the base engine.

Ha, I guess it isn’t that premium. Over $300/mo for a 2 point slow, that’s a no go
