2019 Kia Forte LXS, $222/m, 1st pmt DAS - Thoughts on offer

What do you guys think? This is the best I could work out so far:

2019 Kia Forte LXS

**MSRP: $20,250
**Selling Price: $17,100 ($16,000 sale + $1100 for 2yr maintenance and defenceGPS)
**Monthly Payment: $221.75
**Cash Due at Signing: 1st payment of $221.75
**MSD: 0
**Incentives: $3500 lease cash

**Months: 24
**Annual Mileage: 12K
**MF: .00207 (can go down to .00167 with one-pay)
**Residual: 59%

**Region: Arizona (PHX area)
**Leasehackr Score: 7.6

I hit up all of the Kia dealers in the PHX area and this is the best pricing I can get so far ($17,100). The above listed option ads were added to the $16K selling price I wanted to be at which he says he cannot get to, so he said he could at least add options to make the difference, so I at least get something out of it, versus other dealers only going down to $17,100 as their sales price without any additions. At least I get some value from the maintenance…

I’m still trying to work him down in to a sub $17K sales price. Would like the payment to be at/under $200, which would mean a max sales price of around $16,650 with monthly payments money factor, and $16,900 with the one-pay money factor.

Screenshot of the lease agreement:

Get rid of the maintenance and “defenceGPS” garbage ASAP.

Your total minatence on a Kia Forte over two years will be a pair of $40 oil changes. And defenceGPS sounds like some LoJack garbage that you don’t need nor want.

And honestly if they make you buy it, that’s a dealer I won’t give business to on pricipal.

I can’t imagine maintenance on a Forte over two years coming anywhere close to even 100 bucks, let alone 1100. I would dump that as soon as you can and save 32 bucks a month. Then you should be in good shape.

If they tell you the offer is contingent on you buying the package, then walk and find another dealer.

@mah4546

I definitely don’t want to pay for these items, and I did explain to him that the maintenance will come nowhere near that over two years, and that I had no use for the GPS.

Even with these items added, his sales price is the lowest out of around 6 dealers in the area.

The thing with the “getting something for the money” thinking is that to me… you’re not really getting something for the difference. Think about it. MAYBE 100 bucks over the two years for oil changes and cabin air filters and then what? 1k for the GPS, something you have absolutely zero desire or even need for. I’d guess you’d never actually use it as designed.

So in reality, the dealer is making the exact same profit as the other dealers, they’re just changing what they call the numbers to make it LOOK like you’re actually getting something.

If the 17.1k they offered you is the lowest of anyone else around, then I think you have your answer… just don’t fool yourself into thinking that it’s 16k, but with 1.1k of useless extra items… the actual sale price really is just 17.1k.

If the number work for you then take it and never service your vehicle there. I don’t like that the dealer is deceptive with their tactics. Makes me wonder where else they’re deceptive.

I agree with this. Personally, I’d pay more rather than do business with a dealer trying to shove garbage F&I down my throat.

At least get wheel&tire or damage protection or something useful…

Additional insurance and warranties are probably worth more than garbage GPS here. Better coverage. Curb rash those wheels till your heart’s content!

Yeah I’m not blind to that fact. The car is for my little sister moving out there, so does the GPS provide some value for peace of mind if something crazy happens? Yes. If I had a choice, I’d remove it of course.

No other dealer has come near $17,100.

Will look at getting tire and wheel coverage instead, if I decide to move forward with this dealer.

The area your sister is moving to… is there a high rate of Forte’s being carjacked?

Haha, let’s just say I’ve watched too many criminal minds episodes.

That’s what insurance is for, it’s not going to prevent anyone stealing it. And honestly if it gets stolen, I don’t want it back.

That SP is very low; wonder why?

Also, deal structure seems to have 1st payment included so i think it is a zero DAS deal. All the upfronts are coming out of the 3500 lease cash…

Look up that package online and see if you can cancel it without penalty in the first month or so.

You’re saying $17,100 is very low? I offered $16K. It’s about 16% off.

For what it’s worth, the dealer is telling me with the added options, that’s the only way they’re making any money on this deal.

i agree with that statement. Here in the Midwest it is tough to get more than 9% off msrp on kia models. I have been shopping optima for a few months and they are holding fast to that.

Your actual sell price should include the 489 doc fee as that is part of the total price of the car.
16000 + 1100 + 489 = 17589 (msrp 20250); still 13% off after all that

Curious why only 2 years; lease cash is 3000 for 3 years vice 3500 for 2 years.

If lease cash is 3500 for 2 years, it sounds like it’s incentivized over the 3 year lease.

@StingerTT

My sister is only going to be in AZ for two years.

Great idea. Didn’t even think about that.
